CBS Sportsline: Top Ten FA Shooting Guards

July 7, 2005 By Tony Mejia CBS SportsLine.com Staff Writer Tell Tony your opinion! With Ray Allen agreeing to remain in Seattle for maximum money over the next five seasons, the dominoes have begun to fall as the deepest free-agent off-guard crop in recent...

    Suns/JJ close to deal

LINK Edit to add: Sorry for the misleading title. I thought the article said that the 10 mil/yr offer was being described as "close" by JJ.

Chapman wanted Dwyane Wade for Suns in '03

I'm not sold on Gordon at all. He's a very small 2 guard that can't defend. I can't see him starting for many NBA teams. It is to Skile's credit that he found a niche for him, IMO. He really looked like a bust until he became a shoot-at-will guard of the bench. From reading the Bull's...

Chapman wanted Dwyane Wade for Suns in '03

LINK I wonder what trade he was proposing. Wade & Amaré on the same team? Can we have that draft over again? :D

Barbosa not going anywhere - article

I've never been for trading barbosa. He has gobs of potential. He's one of the Sun's I'll be rooting the hardest to improve next season.

    Summer League Roster

Morris may go back to school via waiver. LINL What? So I guess he's Aryan enough to be a potential pickup for the Third Reich? Or am I just failing to see the importance of this information? :?

UFA Centers in our price range...

Ugh...I would take Oliver Miller over some players on that list! Even when looking at the centers at a slightly higher (or even MLE) price, the more I think the KT/Q trade will go down as one of the best of the off-season. KT was actually one of the better PF/C's out there. The old guys on...

Insider - What Suns should/will do

This must be a typo. It should read, "It appears that Shawn Marion, once again, will be grounds for another baseless rumor by the sporting media."

    Free Agent Commitments

Good. :D As long as he makes it exciting.

    Free Agent Commitments

I read that the Sonics were in real financial trouble. They are bleeding money because of a unique revenue sharing stadium deal with the state of Washinton. So I wonder if they will really be able to sign all of there FA's.

    Free Agent Commitments

I totally agree with Cheese. There needs to be more than just a handful of decent teams, especially in the East. Lebron needs to be deep in the playoffs. The Eastern Conference playoff games were almost unwatchable to the casual fans. I really didn't get into the Bulls-Wiz and...

AZCentral: Suns have options at every position

There's no way we give Raja Bell our full MLE. I didn't know that was the case. I really like Earl Watson. He's my personal #1 choice for backup PG.

Damon Jones becomes free agent! Mobley opts out, too!

I agree. But I just want the Amaré Effect helping someone else. Of course if he were to play here (he won't; ex-Shaq teamates are notoriously overpriced) I would root for him. But I'm rooting against having to root for him, if you know what I mean. :)

Summer must-do list - Paul Coro - interesting article

Have you seen Mexico's new stamps? Maybe he should just tough it out in the cozy Canadian Pokey if it comes to that. :D

Damon Jones becomes free agent! Mobley opts out, too!

Damon Jones? He's the poster child for the Shaq Effect. Plus I can't stand him or his Elton John sunglasses. Or the way he sucks up to Shaq. Or the fact he now thinks he's great, despite the glaring fact that he has been on 7 or 8 teams and only now puts up good #'s-with Shaq, that is. I...

    nba.com free agent list

There are more teams in need of a quality SG than there are quality SG's. The oft repeated list of big name FA SG's this year are Redd/Allen/JJ/Simmons. JJ will not be an option for any team other than the Suns and Redd may very well want to stay in MIL (now that they got their center)...

    First Impressions

Golden State They get Ike, Taft and Monta Ellis. Great draft. Poor Ike. I wonder how long it will be before he punches one of these two in the face?

    Gortat Traded.....Seriously

At least BC didn't give us a chance to get excited over this guy. More money for the JJ/STAT fund, I suppose.

Losing our 21st isn't the end of the world

I still hope not. :p But I'm dying to know how the FA season will shape out. I think that is far more important to us for '05-'06 than this years' draft.

Losing our 21st isn't the end of the world

I'm saying that we are now in it to win a title. I'm not happy about losing a 1st round pick in the trade anymore than the next fan. But if that was our option to get the inside player we so desperately needed than it was worth it. Again, there will be players that we missed out on and...

Losing our 21st isn't the end of the world

I think if we knew that we were losing our pick at the time of the annoucement of the Q/KT trade this draft wouldn't be so upsetting to many fans. Our goal is to get to the Finals next year. So chances are a 21st pick wouldn't help us next season. Its easy to hear all of these names and think...

NATE ROBINSON to Suns at #21

Let's not freak out. Chances are the #21 will be crap anyways. Let's not forget that draft picks don't pan out too often. The key this year is the waiver players. That is where the teams that are in contention will get better.
