Latest word is that Craig knocked out two of his front teeth on one of the first fighting scenes of the movie.

BOND ... JAMTH BOND
By CP/AP

Daniel Craig is off to a bloody start as James Bond. The London Sunday Mirror says a bad guy knocked out two of Craig's teeth in his first fight scene of Casino Royale.

The injury was so bad, Craig's dentist had to be flown to Prague from London. He put a couple of caps on Craig's broken teeth.

Meanwhile, it took an old Bond to come to the rescue of the new Bond. Roger Moore, who played Agent 007 in seven of the James Bond movies, said yesterday that critics of the film franchise's new star should give him a chance. "He's a helluva good actor," said Moore, 78, noting that critics haven't even seen Craig in the role yet. "So why attack him?"

A group of James Bond fans has launched a website (www.craignotbond.com) to protest the hiring of Craig to replace Pierce Brosnan in Casino Royale. The blond Craig, whose film work includes Munich and The Jacket, has so offended the fans they say they'll boycott the film unless EON Productions and Sony Pictures admit they've made a big mistake.

Well, for one, James Bond routinely got his ass handed to him. He won most of the time, sure, but he got bloodied doing it. At the end of Casino Royale, for instance, he was tortured so badly he almost lost his 'nads. He was stripped, tied naked to a chair with no bottom to let his berries dangle, and was repeatedly struck from under the bottom of the chair. Seriously. So, I'll lose little sleep over the guy getting hit in a stunt sequence.

As to all the nitpicking...dang, give the guy a chance. Whose fault is it that they failed to find out if he could drive stick?

Like the fans against him needed more ammo...

Craig can't drive Bond car

2/23/2006

James Bond star Daniel Craig has stunned movie bosses on the set of the new 007 movie, by revealing he can't drive the secret agent's hi-tech car.

Craig - who was signed to replace former Bond Pierce Brosnan last October - is only qualified to drive an automatic transmission vehicle, so was useless behind the wheel of Bond's manual Aston Martin DB5.

According to sources, filming has been halted while the actor learns to drive the car, which had been specially shipped to the Bahamas set.

How realistic is it that Bond, the master of gadgets, cannot even drive a manual transmission. To me, its beyond funny. Of course I will give him a chance, and I will probably go see it.

...They said Pierce Brosnan could not be Bond either, and he pulled it off pretty well.

Maybe the casting director should have, well, asked. Then they could have set up training for him.
