I was at the game, best live hit I've ever seen...Rutuu went right after Ballard, and was jumped by Doan....what a game.

I am still smiling about that play. First the hit, then I think Ballard dropped his gloves and was ready to go too, before Doan stepped in. Doan came in to stand up for his teammate and had that guy by the throat, but restrained himself from beating the guy senseless (interesting how Bertuzzi was there). Then to see Gretzky grinning about the whole thing. Wow.

Being a serious Yote's fan, the teams saying that we played soft infuriated me!! I'm glad to see that these same teams[Dallas was one of them after all] are getting out hustled and beaten by "an inferior team" GO COYOTES!!!

I hope you can catch some highlights on one of the Sunday sports shows.

Nagy, Johnson and Comrie all had big games. Precision passing and shooting all night. It was a blast to watch. Heck, even one of Carolina's goals was awesome.

I think so. Was it the one where he got knocked down, ended up sliding toward the goal on his butt, then reached out and scored way on the other side of Joseph?

I've seen a lot of Carolina because I watch the Penguins whenever I can and I've been impressed with their youth. Good for them.

There are some really good young players all over the league right now and it's been great to watch them so far this season.

MURF;
your idea about disciplining lackadaisical players during a game :biglaugh: was the ****! Any "prima donna" who begged off skating lines because of a "cramp" "Godsakes Coach, it's Hockey Night in Canada!!" would be on the next BUS to the AHL for the rest of the year, or until we could trade him! :notworthy
:stupid:

You people seem to really know your hockey, while I'm just a winnipeg-transplantfan from my hometown Phoenix... I'd like your opinions about our two super-talented rookie defensemen, Keith Ballard and Mihalek[sp?].. Should, or is, Coach GreatOne pairing those two together so they grow into a Chris Pronger-Al MacInnis force as a pair of defensemen? And if so, Isn't that scary that we got rid of 2 of our team's defensemen[Tanabe and Ference] in the last 2 weeks or so? I donut know what to make of it; can you help me?

Anyone know why some of the most recent games have not been on TV? Are they on UPN, or is FSN the only one carrying them?

Also, Jamie Lundmark seems to be playing pretty well recently. Then again all I can see is the box score, anyone out there watching him to see how he is doing?

I wasn't kissing ass the last two posts; I'm saving that for this one... :biglaugh:
I know that Coach GreatOne originated and perfected drills and exercises that noone else did.. Again, if he was the best Backhanded scorer of all-time, and no one even shoots backhanded anymore, couldn't we expect to see the 'Yotes lead the league[world] in BH shooting excellence, overall shooting excellence, passing and shooting accuracy, etal..?

We've just hit a little rut in the TV schedule, as 4 of the last 6 games have not been on tv. Most of the games for the rest of this month are on TV, either FSN, WB, or Channel 3.

Keith Ballard is quickly becoming one of my favorites. He plays the game the way it was meant to be played, showing heart and a level of intensity that is rare to see in a player. He is a true gamer that shows you something new every night, he isnt afraid to jump into the offensive rush with his blazing speed and solid shot, he blocks shots at an amazing rate, he can hit and he isnt afraid to drop the gloves when needed. The only real knock I have seen with him so far is his tendency to take a few stupid penalties, he needs to improve on this over the year. You can already tell that he is a special talent with the chance to be a great defenseman for the Coyotes for years to come. The Colorado trade that brought him here with Derek Morris is looking better every day.

Zbynek Michalek has been an absolute steal for Barnett and the Coyotes. It is pretty rare to get a defenseman that plays 20 minutes a night in a trade for two career AHLers. Minnesota will deeply regret making that trade, if they don't already. Michalek is already a very capable defenseman at the NHL level even in his rookie year, and is very young and still cheap, which is a good thing in this new salary-capped NHL.

Tanabe was really expendable with the emergence of Ballard and Michalek, so it was easy to move him to bring in a guy to fill some of the teams holes. Dont read anything into the Ference trade, he was about our 10th Dman or so on the organizational charts and was traded in order to try and help our AHL team.

I read somewhere that Lundmark was a top 10 pick, but not living up to that.. Strangely enough, Coach GreatOne will get alot of these players' full cooperation. R there any answers for the drills and accuracy-stuff I mentioned earlier that will eventually take the 'Yotes over the top??!

I think the simple explaination would be just because The Great One could do it doesnt mean he would be able to pass on that ability to others quite so easily. I am fairly pleased with what Coach Gretzky has been able to do with the team so far, but what Gretzky could do as a player and what Gretzky is able to teach are two seperate things.

Up to the point of logic that The Great One cannot pass all these skills on, I still wonder if these "drills" [why not call them unusual training techniques?] were properely introduced in the off-season, along with expressing Coach GreatOne's will to win[I wish we had Messier as a coach!] our players such as Nagy, and Sjostrom that are onand off intensity-wise, but very very talented
would either Bloom into true Stars, or bust for our team and be high-level trade bait!
