Because he's freaking amazing offensively, and if they don't contest, he drills the J. Jump and he kills you, don't and he kills you. Just gotta try to contest and hope he misses.

Battier is so good guarding him because he doesn't contest the shot, he contests Kobe himself and he doesn't give up the pump fake. Most players won't allow him mentally to drill it over him, Shane does and overall he does a good job. Let him get them, but don't let him punk you. Must be murder guarding that guy.

Exactly my point. If i'm coaching against Kobe i tell my guys NOT to get caught up in the air....period. Body him with everything you've got,force him to beat you with either the J or off the dribble. Kobe's very good at finishing from 20 ft away when there's contact. Its a no win situation because he's an amazing one-on-one player but catching guys in the air for cheap "and one's" is unacceptable IMO.

Lakers are the smarter & better defensive team. Ariza has really impressed me this post season & even Walton has shown his value in limited minutes.
