Take it easy, I never once thought you were cheering for the Suns to lose. Pokerface actually said that he DID cheer for us to lose, so that's where this is coming from. Not everything is a dig at you.

Pokerface is a solid Suns fan. He did what most knowledgeable Suns fans were thinking... the Suns need to get a good draft pick. Losing was actually winning for fans long term. It even improved the Suns second round pick to #32. Can't forget about second round picks like Tyler Ulis.

Cheering about something is better than not caring at all...

It is a dig at me when I have the same philosophy as pokerface for this season. And again, did pokerface EVER say he wanted our guys to play like crap? Did anyone else? No... he, like a lot of us, wanted the young guys to get as much burn as possible, improve along the way... and lose at the end of the day so we can actually GET BETTER IN THE LONG RUN.

So again, stop projecting BS garbage into other's arguments and demonizing those who feel different from you.
YES HE DID. I don't get why you have such a thin skin all of a sudden. You were actually cheering for our players to play badly to lose?

holy crap... this isn't a matter of having thin skin. It's a matter of AGAIN YOU PUTTING WORDS IN PEOPLE'S MOUTHS. I WANTED OUR PLAYERS TO PLAY BADLY. I wanted them to grow on the court all season and ultimately lose games at the end of the games. HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY THAT?

Suns players are not stupid. They know how the draft works. They know how their team can get a high draft pick. I wasn't cheering for losses. I was hoping for losses. Big difference IMO.

This team seems like it has always been afraid to bottom out which has prevented us from the opportunity of drafting a franchise player. Instead they have opted for fielding "fun" teams for short term gain.

I wanted them to tank. That has no bearing on my long term wishes for the team.

People got into the tank at different levels.. different comfort zones. I embraced the tank and had fun with it. Some ppl think it's wrong to throw games or root against the home team or be too happy when they lose... I get that and I know there is a repulsiveness there. But we can't be repulsed all the time...When the suns lose a ton of games for seven years we as fans have a right to get happy anyway we can.

This was a very unique situation this season. I appreciate the change of tactics and now we are going to enjoy the fruits of what went down. This team has bottomed out and we have no where to go but up. And it might be in spectacular fashion. I don't envy many teams right now and I see no reason to be ticked off... about anything.

PS

This is no longer a tanking thread...It a lottery/draft thread. At least I hope that's what it is.

Grow up and stop with the persecution complex. I put words into Pokerface's mouth because HE SAID THEM. Not Cheesebeef. Pokerface. If you consider yourself someone that cheered for losses, then that's on you. Say things as many times as you want--doesn't bother me none. I thought you were more level-headed.

And I can respect that. I don't agree with it, as you eloquently put it, but I can respect that. I won't understand it, but so what? Why is this a big deal to people like Cheesebeef? It's a message board for chrissakes!

So here's the deal, we all cheered when Booker hit 70 points. Uliss almost had a triple double and we were all happy about it. Chriss had some good games and we all marvel at his lob dunks. No one is not cheering for our guys. We just want them to have All Star games, but still get a top pick. Everyone says we are one player away. The players themselves say the game is a business. You don't think those young guys don't realize all the veterans are resting for the remainder of the season? It is what it is. The Suns got to a certain point in the season, and were outside the 8 spot in the playoff standings and they made a decision to rest all the vets they could. The GM even got on the radio and said, during the two weeks before the trade deadline, if the Suns were even close to the eight spot, he would try and make a trade and go for the playoffs, if not the Suns were basically going to stand pat at the trade deadline. That was about the time some vets started to get rested from games AFTER the two weeks and the Suns were out of contention for the 8 spot. Management even knew the score. Just saying, it's not worth arguing about, because obviously the Suns had this philosophy whether we cheered them on or not.

OK, not trying to stir up krap, but I had this thought about tanking this morning. Would you want your team to tank if a player like a Wilt Chamberlain of our time, a guy who could average 50 points a game for a season, and do it in this modern age of basketball was coming into the draft at the end of the season? Or a new Michael Jordan who may usher in lots of championships if your team had the first pick in the draft? Do you cheer your team to win KNOWING that if they do, they may not win a championship for another decade? I know it's a tough question for some. I have lived watching the Suns all my life, almost 50 years of futility. I want to see them win one championship before I die. For me the answer would be YES!

(Side note, the Suns almost did sign Wilt Chamberlain out of retirement.)

I'm soooo glad you mentioned that. I thought along those lines earlier. Everyone has a price. If we knew we were getting the next Jordan if we lost a particular game...I mean c'mon now....Don't make me go there!

I think tanking has been standard practice for many years. It's still sort of taboo but only because it's misunderstood.

So, the guy who has called me thin-skinned, continues to put words in other people's mouths, accuses them of having persecution complexes is the one telling the other to grow up?

Lol... that may be the way your cult tells you to how to take out your opposition when they've rebutted your per usual dense argument, but it's never worked for them and it ain't working for you.

What are you talking about?? I know you are trying real hard to personally attack me, but you are failing miserably. I never personally attacked you, yet here you are trying to be a bully yet again.

I think we better get the #1 pick...There are some wounds that need healing around here.

I do not know what to think now. We are most likely going to be the #4 pick according to the odds. So I guess that is what I will expect. Anything else will be a bonus.

No, we are most likely going to be top 3. Of any one pick, #4 has the highest percentage of us acquiring it. However, we have a better chance of acquiring a top 3 pick than the 4. Yes, it's confusing.

Yep, I say officially close this thread. The tank goal was achieved... now the lottery and draft are the goals.

Hsandhu is a prophet, this thread should have been closed. The tank is done, I get trying to repurpose it into a draft lottery thread but it's hard to do that without ignoring the dozens of pages promoting the tank.

For a Wilt Chamberlain/Michael Jordan, I would want my team to do anything and everything in their power to acquire them. That includes the tanking strategy.

4th pick odds = 31.9, picks 1-3 have a combined 55.8%.
