The Los Angeles Rams do not need to take running back in the 2025 NFL Draft. Kyren WIlliams proved to be an incredible starter and Blake Corum will get another offseason to develop into a backup running back.
However, this is an incredibly deep running back draft class. The Rams could find a starting-caliber player on Day 1 if they want or grab a complementary back in either of the other two days of the draft. It all depends on what head coach Sean McVay wants to do with his offsense in 2025.
Here are three running backs the Rams could target throughout each day of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Hampton would be a fantastic complement to Williams. He’s a big and productive runner who could provide another level of power to the Rams' offense. This team loves Williams, but Hampton gives them an insurance policy if Williams underperforms in a contract year or can’t get his fumbling woes under control. Using a first-round pick on a running back is typically not a good idea, but Hampton might be too good of a prospect to pass up if he is there at No. 26.
Similar to Hampton, Judkins is a back who gives the Rams' offense more depth out of the backfield. He's more a straight-line runner but is also good at blocking. Judkins also has very sure hands after he fumbled just twice in 717 carries from 2022-2023.
Edwards was great for Michigan two years ago but has since dropped off in production. He's another big-bodied back with a lot of tread on his tires, but trying him out as a Day 3 pick is a low-risk, high-reward option for a Rams team that really only needs developmental depth at the position instead of a Day 1 contributor.
