I am sorry but you can say the Dolphins and Giants paid too much money but there comes a time and place where you have to keep somebody!! Hell, we are losing so much talent and youth its unbelievable. And to replace these guys through the draft is going to take time if you hit on the picks. You can bet your ass we will be picking back in the top 10-12 next year. There goes the sell outs. I dont give a damn how good a coach Whiz is (and I love him) you cannot win without talent! Replacing these guys with retreads and darft picks is not going to get it. You cannot win with coupons! This is so frustrating.

No, you don't. To me you keep core players. Those players IMHO are

1. Fitz
2. Dockett (scary, huh?)
3. Wilson
4. Beanie Wells
5. DRC

Both players were good/ above average. But they are the player you hope to keep, but deal with it if you can't.

You can't lose 6 key players in one off season and not suffer some. I also don't like having to deal with 5-11 seasons while tens of thousands of fans of the other team harass you on the way out of your teams home stadium after another 31-14 loss. You may be ok with that but I'm not.

Did we really have a choice?? We re-sign, and we're handcuffed for years.

Amen Duckjake. This is going to be a tough hole to climb out of. They better counter with something. They had enough trouble selling out the UOP stadium when we were winning. Drop a 6-10/5/11 season and watch the blackouts reappear. I am not trying to be negative, but you cant take blows like that and expect to replace them. We need to reload not rebuild!

How are we handcuffed for years? We'd have Boldin, Rolle and Dansby all good players and still have our normal draft picks to build the team.

Salary Cap hell is as outdated as you have to run the ball and stop the run to win a championship in the NFL.

I think I heard many times that Rod Graves called Rolle, Q & Dansby "core players". Now there gone.

Do you think we can win the West? Even in our "step back year" I think we should win the West and play in the playoffs.

Just curious, I can think of 4 key players, who else are you counting?

And yes, the visiting fan things sucks, but that says more about the fans (and I am not talking about the posters on this board, but the 'average' fan) than it does about the team and this management.

Yes sir. Dansby and Rolle played a big roll in this dominating defense this year.

Let's say the Cards go out and sign Clark and Fujita for about 1/3 the cost. Then we go about locking up Dockett, Breaston, and a few others. Now add the extra two pick we got for Q.

Doesn't seem quite as bad.

Let's not give up just yet.

We lose the equivalent of 5 starters:

Warner
Rolle
Dansby
Boldin
Berry/Okeafor who I count as one at OLB.

Of course that all changes if Chike ends up staying despite reports to the contrary.

Sure we can win the West because it is so weak. We could replace all our guys and start Shane Falco at QB and still win more games than the 49ers, Rams and Seahawks.

Duck, but then again we could easily fall to a 2nd place finish. As of today, I would give the edge to SF in winning the West dispite their issues at QB. The loss of Warner will probably cost us at least 2 wins.

The San Francisco Aggies!?!?!?!!?!? No way. They are aggies now. Nothing they do will help them win.

I heard the Big X contacted A&M about the Ags moving to the Southland Conference.

Wow... everyone slow down. Jake is admitting we can win the west in a 'rebuilding' or 'retooling' year?!?!? If that is true, then what is the problem? Would you consider resigning Rolle and Dansby at the expense of either Fitz or Dockett? Both players are due extensions very soon. And Rolle was overpaid. Warner was out of our control, as was Berry. Okeafor is no big loss IMHO since Haggans should keep that spot.

So we had to unload a disgruntled player and a player chose another team over us, for less than the guaranteed money we offered him last year!!!

This stuff happens, and we should expect it to happen. You keep your franchise players (I dare you to say Dansby and Rolle, the 'controllable' losses are franchise players), and fill the belly of the team with a mixture of "plugged in" players and young talent. That is what good teams do.

Stop posting this garbage. We were lucky to have even made the playoffs in 98'. We still have a lot of good and young players outside of Rolle and Dansby.

Dansby was one of this teams best players, I will say it. Rod Graves called him a "core player" many times & was willing at the end to pay him when it was too late. I bet you the players on the roster would say the same thing about #58.

Yeah replace one guy at at time at most two not 6 at once. That's the problem. I don't care how good you are you are going to struggle to compete right away having to find or groom 5 new starters at one time.

If we had just lost Dansby. Or just lost Rolle. Or just had Warner retire it wouldn't be so bad. But SIX key guys.

No team replaces only 2 starters a year in the NFL. So i sense you are more upset this all happened at once than that it happened?

Yes Dansby was a very good player, but tell me what you think, Bucky. Is Dansby better than those 5, the best two who need extensions within 2 years or not? I think there is no doubt Dansby was just outside of the group I listed. and we made a very good, comparable offer. This happens and you can't panic.

SIX?

Warner was huge. No doubt.

Boldin? Whoopty-do. We'll be fine without him. The 09 Q was nowhere near the 03-07 Boldin.

Dansby? See Boldin. Barely above average.

Rolle? See Dansby. Average at best. The Giants BIG-TIME screwed the pooch on this one.

Okeafor? Good riddance.

Berry? See Boldin.

Robinson? See all of the above.

I'm not worried at all.

What? We offered him more guaranteed money last year he said no. Offered the same, if not slightly larger contract with a signing bonus only 2 mil less (easy to negotiate) and Dansby went with Miami. What would you like to do? Handcuff him to dockett and make him play against his will?

team chemistry!!! those guys all played together thru sweat, pain & adversity, they knew each others strengths & weaknesses.

It's more about the big picture than the individual pieces.

Please tell me you aren't counting Okeafor AND Robinson in the "sensational six"? Seriously? The other I can understand, but agree/could see no solution to what happened, agree or disagree. but Okeafor and Robinson? You have to be looking for a reason to be upset to count them.
