I think the PA is part of the problem with killing the crowd noise. I get using it to get the fans fired up coming out of a time out, or when the team is trying to mount a come back, but they way its used now its just a constant drone of noise and alternating generic sound in moments big and small. Its not a very organic experience if you try to cheer along with it.

I'll add to that - the "live" experience at the Madhouse on McDowell was way better than it has ever been at America West Arena/US Airways Center. The older posters on here can back me up on that. :D
It was, but it also reflected the time and circumstances. The Suns were the only Major league game in town. It did seem more intimate.

I was thrilled when I discovered that coming into the parking lot from Encanto north of the Madhouse and driving all the way down the center was tedious. And didn't get you close to the arena.

Coming in on the side off 19th Ave. put you just a couple of rows from the building. Best of all, when we got to the car after the game, we were on the road in minutes.

It was just like buying a new car back in the day. Planned obsolescence had them changing the style every three years. A style came out and you might love it. Sure enough, three years later, a new "better" style came out and the magic diminished. Such is life! As they say, you can never go back.

To me, I like the Suns atmosphere when taking my family. I will never bring my kids to a cards game at their ages. Just way to many idiots saying and doing stupid stuff and don't want them being apart of it. Now when my 2 boys are alot older, of course they will be going, but now, no way! With the atmosphere of the Suns games, I have no issues with taking my whole family and still having a blast.

i heard more f yous, f kobes and etc at the suns game than I do at cardinals games

almost punched some guy in his late 30s yelling at a 18 yr old kid in the parking lot for having a kobe jersey on, telling him suck these, f you, etc.

From looking at the guy he was obviously drunk, has made lots of poor decisions in life and likely uses sports as an outlet to ooze his unhappy candor toward other people.
