I stand corrected, searching for it, not deserved it. The semantics of apathy are foreign to me, sorry.

You really think they wore Celtic jerseys so they could get beaten? Am I putting words in your mouth or is that what you mean by "the trouble they were in search of." The "trouble" would be getting beaten, and you're saying that's what they were "in search of"? A bit masochistic even for a celtic fan, dont you agree?

Like I posted earlier in the thread from the ESPN article:

I know one of the goons in green who is getting his face smashed in. I interviewed him earlier, and as his buddy pointed out, "He's not even a Celtics fan. He's just wearing the jersey to act a fool."

They knew what they were getting into. There's no other reason to go to a viewing party at Staples for a game being played in Boston, decked out in Boston gear, other than to start some crap. Why? Lord knows..but it is damn sure Darwin Award material.

Wow, so since an observer declared he was attempting to "act a fool," that's exactly what he was doing? Did the victim happen to do a post-beating interview where he said "all I was trying to do was act a fool?"

It's funny you re-cite this. Just last Friday, "America's Pulse" host E.D. Hill on the Fox News channel cited an "observer's opinion" about Barack Obama giving his wife a fist-bump after he secured the democratic nomination. She had a whole segment on if it could be considered a "terrorist fist jab," among other things, and the body language of the fist bump. Where did this idea come from? Someone on a political message board called it such, and she decided to run with it.

You know what happened on Monday? Her show got canceled.

Just because his buddy called it "acting a fool" doesn't mean you need to regurgitate it and make yourself look ignorant. That was his opinion of his friend, I know i've called my friends worse when they've done the odd act. Did he know he friend was going to get physically beaten when he made that comment? Don't you think his tone would be different if that interview was done in the aftermath?

And since when does "acting a fool" warrant physical attacks?

You keep defending your lack of caring for the incident instead of just keeping your opinion to yourself. I truly find it a shame. It also reminds me of a quote from one of my favorite movies:

And I am reminded, on this holy day, of the sad story of Kitty Genovese. As you all may remember, a long time ago, almost thirty years ago, this poor soul cried out for help time and time again, but no person answered her calls. Though many saw, no one so much as called the police. They all just watched as Kitty was being stabbed to death in broad daylight. They watched as her assailant walked away. Now, we must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men.

Keep on truckin', you mighty Laker fan, you.

P.S. I found a new quote for your signature:

"Ah, there's no justice like Angry Mob Justice." -Seymour Skinner, The Simpsons

No need to thank me.

Dude, get a grip on reality. And stop putting words in my mouth.

I said several times I don't condone it. But I'm smart enough to know not to do dumb things like that. I'm shocked that you don't think that is a probable outcome. People have to do risk assessment in their lives, or they could end up like the dude who thought wearing his colors to a laker ********** party = good idea.

BTW, it wasn't an observer...he interviewed the freaking guy. I think the part about him not being a Celtic fan is more telling than the act a fool line. But since you, for some reason, are on a tear about it, what do you think his other motives could be, other than start drama? Would you do it, and why? What would you expect to happen?

Oh get off your tear of not condoning it then saying they were searching for it. It was ludicrous the first time you said it.

The guy did NOT say he was acting a fool. It was his friend. YOU stop putting words in MY mouth. His friend, an OBSERVER, said he was ACTING A FOOL. Tell me where I was incorrect in my statements about that.

I would never expect to get physically beaten in a public arena for wearing opposing colors, but I guess im not familiar with the Laker lifestyle.

I did not put one word in your mouth in my last response. Im sorry if your words are feeble enough for you to weasel out of them when you feel like it. Sounds like a personal problem to be honest, and I'd appreciate if you eased up off my back about it.

It's a shame you accept physical assault as a "probable outcome" to wearing the wrong colors. It blows my mind actually.

I would agree with your statement if we were talking about an actual game that was being played at Staples, or any other arena in the country. But they showed up at a Lakers gathering, wearing the opponents colors. I'd love to hear the reason for that, according to you. And don't say they wanted to watch the game there, because the quality is crap when compared to HD or a sports bar.

IMO they only reason they did it was to instigate. They didn't deserve what they got, and the Laker fans that took part in those acts are scumbags. It's almost like a real life troll, in this case going to a viewing party instead of a message board for an opponent.

Do you get the difference between an actual game and a viewing party? Really, because you keep saying things like "I'd never expect it for wearing opposing colors." Neither would I. At a game. This wasn't a game...it was a viewing party at Staples. The only reason to go there in other colors is to talk smack and create drama. I can't think of one other reason.

You avoided the questions:

what do you think his other motives could be, other than start drama? Would you do it, and why? What would you expect to happen?

What's the phrase again? "Don't start no [stuff], won't be no [stuff]." These dudes were the ones who put their hands in the tiger cage, and you are surprised they got bit?

BTW, I see you trying to goad me into a response. I see your game. Don't walk too close to the fire though...

Last I checked, there is a gigantic screen in the arena and they sell food and beer. Also, I believe both teams are on the screen at the same time. It sounds oddly similar to a spors bar atmosphere, but with a 100% guarantee of it being basketball oriented.

I think any basketball fan would love to go to a viewing party. Except for fans of the opposing team, as straight up fear should deter them from entering the public venue...

To each his own.

Watching a game on a jumbotron hundreds of feet away in a stadium sounds like a ridiculously stupid time.

I am starting to get what you are saying Donald. It's like going to the Sun's part of the board and riling up the sun's fans while using a Laker avatar...right?

Pretty much, except it isn't during a Suns/Lakers game where the Lakers are blowing them out, and everyone is drinking and I'm standing in my jersey talking crap to them just feet away where they can reach out and touch someone with their frustrations.

In fact, if you ever wondered how I compose myself during Lakers/Suns games on this board, cheese had to beg and plead for me to talk a bit of smack to him after the Lakers blew Phoenix out this year. My nice reaction was killing him. :)

Y'know I'm kidding right? You are actually one of the pretty civil Laker guys here.

a forearm shiver to the face would knock down a lot of non-"*******" too.

He's not a bitch because he got knocked down.

I detest that mini-me and his "I've got big nuts" celebration and his general *****-ness. Thus, I think he's a bitch. Thus, I think it is funny as hell that he got knocked on his ass AND the foul called on him. High comedy.

but you love Kobe's general aholeness and "almost explode" when Kobe Bryant does the airplane or the six shooter.

perspective is a funny thing.

Absolutely. Never thought it wouldn't be. (though i never said that bold part, so I don't get the quotes).

It applies to me as well.

the quotes refer to something i remember you saying during the first round of the nuggets series as Kobe was doing all his theatrics against the Nuggets and you wrote something to the effect of "Man, the jersey pull, the six shooter... if he would have thrown in the airplane I might have exploded!" or something relatively homo-erotic like that? :)

edit: found it. "almost exploded" would have been better.

"You know it's a great game when you get a jersey popping moment combined with a "these guns are hot, better holster them" moment as well. Adding the "airplane" trifecta would have made me go *kablewey*"

Good find. Very tongue in cheek, but yes *kablewey* = head exploding from inability to process the awesomeness.

So you are right...this time. ;)

Those celebrations are all far more cool than Mini Mi acting like the big nutted squirrel gif, though. You don't even need perspective for that. Kings fans were probably embarrassed.
