Well, honestly I never paid a lot of attention to Martin other than he had good games against the Lakers. That skinny rat always hit shots against us...I wouldn't have thought he was obscure...
Just from the stats listed below, Luke was more obscure than Martin.
Kevin Martin
2006-2007 (2005-2006)
21.3 PPG (10.8)
49.5 FG% (48.0)
44.2 3pt% (36.9)
89.9 FT% (84.7)
35.5 MPG (26.6)
Luke Walton
MPG: 33.8 (16.1)
FG%: 51.1 (43.9)
3P%: 51.2 (34.7)
FT%: 76.0 (73.7)
RPG: 3.4 (1.8)
APG: 4.3 (2.1)
SPG: 1.1 (0.5)
BPG : 0.5 (0.2)
PPG 12.8 (4.5)
Not only has Luke improved all over the place, he's doing better in most categories (other than PPG and FT%) in slightly fewer minutes.
And as to PPG, Luke went from 4.5 to 12.8, almost tripling his production while Martin doubled from 10.8 to 22. From an improvement standpoint, both are deserving, but if you are going to argue that Luke was a pretty good player and Martin was traveling to obscurity, the numbers don't back that up. In fact, they show the opposite...Martin was a ten point a game guy and Walton was a 4.5.
