Went to the game tonight... found out im a horrible negotitor and got taken to the cleaners by a scalper, but it was my son's first hockey game so i justified it that way..

my goodness what a game that was, the atmosphere was electric and really imo, the most exciting game i have seen this season..

The one thing i was most impressed with is how the coyotes fought, it was a playoff atmosphere, and they punched SJ in the mouth early and stayed on them throughout...

That being said, even though we won tonight i am not holding my breathe for tomorrow, and that sucks, because we NEED to win tomorrow and yet i keep getting back to the worst case scereno where we meet them in the 1st round and lose in 5...

But whatever, tonight was awesome, one of the best expierece i have ever had live at a game...

Disagree, I think the Coyotes have a good shot at winning at San Jose. They have been playing well on the road this year and they know what a victory means.

Yeah, that loss against Colorado will probably cost them the second round of the playoffs. I won't count them out until they are out, but it's men against boys out there. San Jose threw them around like rag dolls...

I think they can take detroit and I'm hoping for that matchup

It's pretty straightforward for the coyotes in who they play

Here is how it breaks out for SJ

If Chicago:
…beats Detroit in regulation or overtime, San Jose faces Phoenix.
…beats Detroit in a shootout, San Jose meets Nashville.
…loses to Detroit in overtime or a shootout, San Jose takes on Chicago.
…loses to Detroit in regulation, San Jose will play Los Angeles.

I'm hoping for a regulation detroit victory - sets up the coyotes against detroit, SJ vs LA and will make vancover deal with a dangerous chicago team that has played much better in the 2nd half (as of right now chicago has a +34 goal differential ... as an 8 seed ... that's insane - it's 3rd best in the conference and they would tie/jump ahead of SJ if they win tommorrow)

Really felt they could of gotten the win but Niemi came up big last night. I don't know if I can take the Detroit fans again. Also, San Jose does not have a good track record in the playoffs, so who knows. No matter who they play, they need to score early and hope Bryz plays spectacular.

That's so true, nothing against the Red Wings but I won't take my kid to a Coyotes/Detroit playoff game here at Glendale. Last time there was fights everywhere.

San Jose is better than Detroit, but I just can't handle the fans again.

Just as crushing was that game against Dallas about a month ago when they tied it with less than a minute to go, and then gave up a goal with less than 10 seconds to lose it. One more point and they are hosting the Ducks rather than traveling to Detroit.

Eh, most of em have Detroit in 7 games (unlike picking the Sharks to maul the Kings), so there is some recognition there.

But not one of them had the guts to pick the Coyotes. I would love to see the Coyotes dominate this series.

Coyotes might have caught a break as Zetterberg is out for game one with a knee injury. There are rumors that he has a torn MCL and if that is the case, he might not be playing in this series.

Detroit is taking it to the Coyotes in game one as they lead 4-1 in the third period. Need to win game two.

When they failed to score on the 5-3 powerplay, and Doan couldn't convert his breakaway, in the first period I figured that would bite them in the ass and they would lose.

Yep, the Coyotes had many chances to blow it open, and didn't.

That was pretty brutal. 0 for 6 on the powerplay, a couple of soft goals given up, being completely outskated in the 2nd and 3rd period, missed opportunities all over the ice. Game 2 essentially becomes a must win for the Coyotes to salvage the series.

The turnovers by the Coyotes were non-stop. Jovo was terrible. Morris was missed, but really just terrible passing all over the ice, minus the assist on the Turris goal.

I was sad to see the Coyotes lose tonight, especially after such a great start.

The Coyotes looked in control in the 1st period. They were pushing the RedWings defense way back into their zone and getting a lot of shots.

After that, the RedWings completely took over. They were the agressors and the Coyotes had a nervous look to them like; 'wow we're up 1-0 in Detroit in game 1!' and everyone choked.

Like others have said, despite the strong start, they missed a bunch of scoring opportunities in the 1st that changed the momentum.

Here's to a good performance in game 2.

We've put ourselves in a hole here. As mad as I was, I have to say that Detroit played some beautiful hockey in the first two periods. Yotes showed us in the end that we could keep up with them. Bryz has made some mistakes, but if he can be on his game and not give up the easy ones at least, we have a chance. I've seen crazier things happen in the NHL playoffs.

Doan showed a lot of heart and kept us in the game. I feel bad for him like Nash last season because the team just hasn't shown up for him.

Really disappointing--but the Coyotes were a good road team this year. There's a world of difference between 3-0 in a series and 2-1. Even if they split in Detroit they are still alive, and still have the chance to force a game 7 there.

Have to win both games in Glendale to stay alive now, Games 1 and 2 were downright nasty.

And Bryz continues to be a regular season wonder. I thought goalie was supposed to be an advantage for us?

Bryzgalov was outstanding both years in the playoffs for Anaheim, he had 3 shutouts in a row including a Game 7 on the road in Calgary. The Stanley Cup year he filled in for Giguere when he was out in the first round as well. He's had some atrocious games for the Coyotes (but he's certainly not the only one), giving up incredibly soft goals several times now. If the Coyotes are going to make a comeback, he's going to have to be their best player. So far he hasn't been.
