82: I have to admire you taking the DBacks as your team. Most all Yankee fans will continue to be Yankees fans because they can throw the 27 or whatever championships in your face even though our team has been around just over a decade. Forget the $$$ issue. It is refreshing to hear your unbiased opinions. I'm not sure I could do it coming where you came from.

Thanks AZ. I am definitely a bit of a different type of Yankee fan, as I can assure you most of my brethren would NEVER, EVER take on a 2nd team as passionately as I have taken on the D-Backs...
I'm a baseball fan first though. I grew up playing the game from the time I was 6 years old, and played competitively through my 20's. Once I hit my 30's, I caved in and quickly discovered the pleasures of slow-pitch softball and BEER! ;)

I've been here in the desert now for 10 years. My first year here was 2001 - yup, the infamous bloop game-winner in the World Series by Gonzo off of Mariano... So, it's all the more remarkable that today, I am such a huge D-Backs fan!

I think the job Gibby, Baylor, Trammell, Williams, Nady and Young have done with this team is nothing short of incredible! I think Derek Hall and Towers know what they are doing, and are finding a way to extract maximum value out the revenue they are afforded.
This team is a ton of fun to cheer for! What a GREAT season!!

X Nady and Chris Young? Man, you had me fooled with that pretend hatred... :)

If the Dbacks still had Heren they'd be running away with the west and serious title contenders. A combo of Heren and Kennedy would be lethal.

Oh well, I'm sure that prospect they got with Saunders will turn out to be the next Babe Ruth.

The Diamondbacks got the best of the Haren trade. Skaggs and Corbin are probably two of the top pitchers in the minors along with Parker and Bauer. Also, both Corbin and Skaggs are lefties.

"I've fallen and I can't get up!"

Whoever made the trade for Marquis needs to be taken out to the woodshed. This guy has been useless since coming over.

Fine, if they turn out to be big league contributors then maybe it was a reasonable deal but the dbacks sure could use a legit big time arm like Haren right now.

Saunders has done more than expected. Also, according to Sutton, Haren was a cancer, it was all about him. He has mentioned many times about the incident in San Diego without saying Haren's name.

Yeah, even watching him at the ballpark I could tell he was a jerk.

Sometimes I look at this team and I can't believe they're in first place. Ian Kennedy is their ace. I can't even think that without laughing. They really only have one legit star. I guess that's why all the talk about JUp for MVP.

What pitcher did you want them to get that was available and wouldn't require giving up a top prospect?

Sometimes the right moves don't work out.

Agree. If Byrnes was still here he would of traded the top prospects.

You don't get a good player for nothing. If all your willing to offer is crap you get Jason Marquis.

Wandy Rodriguez would have been better. How many of these "top prospects" actually become a big league regular. Anybody remember all the threads about how Conner Jackson and Carlos Quentin were gonna save the franchise?

Mr. Huge Disappointment is on fire.
I have been posting tough love comments about JUp, CY and Johnson during the season. Not that they or management read them. But I, as a perfectionist, had to vent, hoping that the vibes would somehow reach them. :)

We're just about at the point where it will be up to them. Upton is already delivering.

Despite all the broken bones and hit-batsman, we're still strong. I guess there was a method to Gibby's madness of giving a lot of playing time to his entire roster from the start of the season.

I'm going to enjoy the stretch drive, even with the road games coming up, starting with the Phillies invincible staff.

Byrnes would have given a top prospect for Jason Marquis. There has to be something in between.

I bet the Dbacks would have been more aggressive if Drew hadn't gone down but I say you have to take the shot when you get it.

This team reminds me a lot of the 2007 Rockies. They're young and coming on and they look like they've got a nice young nucleus to build on but where are the Rockies now?

You don't trade a top prospect to win right now. The Red Sox were somewhat in the same situation in 1990 and they traded Jeff Bagwell for Larry Anderson and we all know how that worked out.

The Diamondbacks actually have a long-term plan and they did not expect to be winning the division this year. Let the season play itself out and with all the young arms in the minors and with a relatively young Diamondbacks team, the future is very promising. I look back at 2007 and their future looked very promising but Byrnes made some bad trades that depleted the farm system. Then injuries happened and they had no one who could help out. They are not going to make the same mistake.

Nice sweep of the Mets and the winning streak reaches six. The Phillies matchup looks tough with Collmentor and Saunders pitching in that homer park. What is interesting is the Giants are playing the Braves and I know we all want the Braves to win, but the Diamondbacks want to be in striking distance of them if they lose the lead to the Giants. Should be a fun week.
