Sweep baby!

Although I do wish we had Hudson and Kennedy for the series against Detroit

Same here, Collmenter has been really shaky in his last couple of starts so hopefully he can get back on track.

Ofcourse Saunders is like the best pitcher of all time if he can get out of the first inning. I'm exagurrating ofcourse but that guy is amazing, I've never seen someone struggle so much early only to be virtually unhitable in the mid-late innings. We should do a reverse closer with him, have JJ pitch the first inning. lol :p

Down 0-4, down 3-6, and then we come back to win. This team just doesn't quit! There were some bad mistakes made throughout the game for sure, but this was an impressive win.

Diamondbacks win 7-6 as Pena hit a gigantic home run. I wonder if Gibson will start Duke anymore? He isn't getting the job done and the bullpen saved the game tonight.

The first game in Detroit was a lot of fun. Down early, but come back big to win by one. Hey, Tacos tomorrow. Great game saving catch by J. Up on a line drive against the wall. Huge smash by Pena to put us ahead finally. We made mistakes but overcame them. Detroit couldn't overcome theirs.

I cannot wait until The Zach Duke Experiment is over. I hope KT is searching long and hard for a replacement.

Yep. At this point I'd rather see Micah run out there. At least he competes.

I know most speculation is to add to our relievers, but I'm feeling much better about the bullpen. Shaw has nasty stuff and Heilman seems to be figuring it out. With Gut and Demel coming back, hopefully we can cut back on Hernandez innings.

Our biggest need at this point appears to be another solid starting pitcher. Our top 3 is looking good, and I think we can get a 5 out of the rest of the available options, but we could definitely use another legit starter.

Duke just hasn't cut it. My guess is that Pena gets traded for a 5th starter.

Saunders throws a 7 inning gem, giving up a solo home run.

D-Backs lead 2-1 going into the 8th.

Enter the bullpen. Tigers score SEVEN runs in the 8th....ALL of them with 2 outs.

Watching that almost made me throw up a little in my mouth. Seriously.

Pathetic. No other word for it (well, that I can post anyway).

Unless Pena starts to hit, I don't see him staying after interleague play is done.

Sounds like last season.

Lead late in the game only to be lost by our bullpen. I hope Gibby has a nice little chat with his pitchers and their coach

Or you can take it for what it is, a bad game. This is only the 2nd game all season the D-Backs have lost when leading after the 7th inning. They haven't lost a game when leading after 8. Everyone is entitled to a bad game. Also Heilman has actually been pitching decently these past few weeks so don't use his season against him. Relief pitcher's stats can go out of whack with one bad outing (obviously Heilman has many more bad outings).

In their quest for a 6th inning pitcher, 7th inning pitcher, 8th inning set-up, closer, substitute set-up and substitute closer . . . the D'backs have overlooked what used to be common in baseball -- a reliever who could come in with runners on base and shut them down.

Back in the day, they weren't called set-up or closers. They were called relievers and were accustomed to doing whatever needed to be done. Including, and especially, relieving with runners on base.

That's is why most relievers now come to the set position even with the bases empty. The tradition lived on, but not the horses to do it.

Tie game, runner on third with zero outs. Drew pops out, CY strikes out, and Montero strikes out. Something needs to be done. Soon.

I'll take personal responsibility for that one... I didn't have time to post a rant about the need to trade CY lately. Had I done so, he would've smacked a home run last night in that spot. Sorry... :bang:
