I think you misinterpreted my question. I'm genuinely interested in what players you like in this draft. You must have an opinion as a Suns fan, a suns fan who has his own website dedicated to Suns talk.

No, I understood what you meant. I'm really so ignorant as to have not even formed any preferences. The only players I have any impression of are Fredette and Biyombo. I'm not sure I've seen a second of Fredette on video, but from his description he sort of reminds me of Budinger, who has turned out to be a surprisingly effective pro. (Now people will say, "You don't know anything, Fredette is nothing like Budinger," to which I respond, "Yes, I'm sure you're right.)

As for Biyombo, I watched a highlight clip or two. I'm a bit surprised that scouts say he's hopeless offensively -- I saw pretty decent footwork on a couple of moves, and touch on a hook shot that didn't look like an accident. If the Suns wind up with Biyombo, I'll be intrigued because I like his size, but that's pretty much all I know.

I'm sure most people think that I come off as a know-it-all here, but that's because I rarely weigh in with an opinion unless I think I have excellent reasons for believing whatever it is that I believe. In the case of the draft, I know my reasons are crap, so I don't say anything.

Get Fredette. :) I think Kemba Walker is going to be a serious bust in the NBA.

I've been reading that Jimmer has been trying to schedule workouts against Walker & Knight even going as far as re-organizing his schedule to accomodate theirs but Kemba has cancelled a couple.

I don't think Jimmer makes it past the Kings at #7. It appears Jimmer is not afraid to prove his talent.

Wow anyone see the new draft express mock draft?

We pass on Alec Burks AND Marshon Brooks to select Tristian Thompson.

I dont know why but the more I read about Thompson, the more I feel like he is the worst 1st rd prospect in this draft class.

Decent rebounder, average defender, good athleticism and absolutely 0 offensive game.

I dont understand how people can actually think this kid is a lottery pick.

Elindholm, you have to watch the clips of jimmer. His range is incredible. Givw him an inch of room and hes sinking a 30 footer.

I don't think anybody questions this guys offensive talent. It's the other aspects of his game.

that's a great skill for a Harlem Globetrotter, not so much for a Sun.

How is great shooting not a great skill for any player on any NBA team?

because good teams should never be shooting 30 footers. An under-sized SG who can't play defense is Craig Hodges, Steve Kerr, Eddie House and you don't waste a lottery pick on those guys.

Ray Allen and Reggie Miller disagree.

uh... Mulli, Ray Allen is the proto-typical 6'5 super athlete SG and Reggie was a 6 Freaking 7 freak with long-arms... how they're involved in ANY conversation with a 6'2 shooting guard is beyond me.

he'd get his shot blocked and shut down just with relative ease... much like his previous Duke clone, JJ Redick... and Reddick was a full two inches taller.

uh... Mulli, neither of those guys are midget shooting guards so I'm pretty sure they'd agree with me. You can't seriously be comparing a guy who's a 6'2 shooting guard who plays no defense to a 6'5 super athlete shooting guard like Ray Allen and a 6'6 shooting guard like Reggie Miller.

They are/were scrawny. :)

Oh come on now, he is not going to be shooting 30-foot jumpers regularly. You know exactly what JC meant when he said that and you are intentionally misrepresenting what he said/ meant.

I don't remember Hodges too well, but Jimmer is hell of a lot more athletic than Steve Kerr ever was, and he is a much more consistent shooter than Eddie House ever was. Sure, he could turn out to be another House, but he could turn out to be Stephen Curry or even Mark Price.

Now, I am not saying we should pick him, or trade up to pick him (In fact, I hope we don't as I really think that every new player Phoenix acquires should be required to be an above-average defender at the very least).
I am just saying that your characterization of Jimmer is really unfair, and quite frankly, flat-out ridiculous.

ok. we pick him and we're doing nothing different than what this team has always done. value offense over everything else... but doing so with a guy who doesn't even have the size to really play the position he's excelled at in college.

thanks but no thanks.

"I'm sure of it. I hate him."

ha... i don't hate him as player. i think he can be a good solid role player, like a Kerr, Eddie House (who was AMAZING in college), but drafting him at 13 sends me the worst message in the world as to what this team still wants to be moving forward.

100% agree. This really puts the organization in the dubious position of trying to surround the guy with enough defensive minded players to hide him. Something we have not been able to get done in the Nash era.

I think Draft Express has Biyombo going at 20... I hope the Suns are the team that prevents that from happening! I'm a little concerned about his age - he definitely looks older than twenty to me when I see him in profile. Twenty-two would be no big deal but 25 would be a major problem, IMO. Of course, Mutombo always looked older than he claimed and he had a long NBA career.

Barring an age problem Biyombo's scanty offensive skills are not a concern in my view - guys will put in the hours to develop their offense and he's plenty athletic so he has something to work with.

If we draft Jimmer thinking he's going to be a starter, I think were likely to be disappointed. But I think his worst case is a role player, and a great one at that. Rather like Eddie House with considerably more range and greater accuracy. I suspect few of you remember that Eddie had a stretch with us when he was changing the flow of game after game in a positive way - there was talk around the league of him being sixth man of the year. Then he lost confidence or something and fell way off - aided and abetted by D'Antoni yanking him around a bit as he was wont to do with subs. (I can't blame D'A as much as I'd like because Eddie went through a similar, though less pronounced, pattern in Boston.) Anyway, I like having an out and out 'gunner' of that type on the team and if Jimmer could achieve more consistency than Eddie, he'd be worth a #13 pick. On the other hand if there's a real PF or PG prospect we just about have to go that route with the state this team is in. Or a classic SG who's above average on defense.

I watched both of them play quite a bit in college and I just don't see the comparison. Other than the obvious, they're both white and they both shoot well they're not very much alike. Redick got most of his within an offense designed to give him good looks. Jimmer is incredible at creating the space needed to get off a shot. He's not my first choice either but IMO he's much more likely to be in the World B Free, Downtown Freddie Brown conversation than he is the Steve Kerr, JJ Redick group.

Earl Clark is a *******. That's why he won't make it in the NBA. No IQ what so ever.

This. He is incredible at creating his own shot. And that's with double teams and triple teams thrown at him as well.
