The thing is, Wade is already 29. I think most people think of him as 26 or 27, but there's an excellent chance that his career is already half over. Considering his injury history, he may have only four or five good years left. For comparison, Bryant is only 32 -- a mere 3 1/2 years older than Wade! -- and most writers think that he's near the end of the road as far as being a top-five player is concerned.

which is exactly why I think they should make that move. they're in win now and Howard probably gets them win now... and is a C and YOUNGER than LeBron... it's win win.

probably won't happen, but holy hell would it be awesome and the biggest slap in the Queen's face EVER.

Me too. :(

I agree I dont get people who think Spolstra is a good coach. I've seen it in other threads; "how can you not like Spolstra?" Uh it's got nothing to do with liking the guy. Just because the guy worked his way up from the mail room doesn't make him a good coach. He did no coaching and he made absolutely no adjustments the entire series. On the contrary, how many times did you hear him in timeouts saying "Just stay the course guys" he said it over and over again. Honestly I never heard him say anything but that even in his between-quarter interviews.

"Eric what did you tell the team at halftime"

"Uhh I said we just gotta stay the course."

You could see the Heat players weren't even remotely listening to him. The only reason the Heat kept him as coach was because they knew he would let Lebron and Wade walk all over him without conflict, which is what they thought was best but at some point, you need a coach to win it all.
I think spolestra is a great coach, but it is a challenge to coach 2 of the greatest players in the league. I question whether they truly respect him. basketball is a weird sport in the way that players really have to respect a guy or they will run the show completely on the court. Maybe if they hang onto him for a while he will develop into a champion because they clearly have the talent.

I think the problem here is that miami, media, fans, etc thought they won the title when they beat boston and the bulls.....

dallas had a tougher road to the title in the west and clearly were on a different level than what the heat faced previously. dallas is just too deep for them.

when they get better role players around their stars I think they will win more than one title. the question is wade's health. he has a tendancy to get hurt, but he's been plugging for a couple of years now.

i think this is really where people need to realize how good of coach Phil Jackson is. Everyone says "anyone could win with Shaq and Kobe or MJ and Scottie"... but both of those tandems played with each other for a couple years and never won jack squat until Jackson came along and then once he did, he became the only coach to win multiple 3-peats.

congrats Zo... have a great time tonight!

The Meat will be back and in full effect next year, they might pick up a big (it definitely won't be Howard) but the "3 dumbegos" will saddle up again. The Coach is gone, I'm just wondering if who it's gonna be...or who dares to take that job. Phil Jackson would probably be the only one I see getting a line up like that excelling. Spoelstra will be the goat in all of this, Lebron too.

Can't agree with you here. He is not GREAT. Great would have gotten it done. Seriously, if Phil was coaching these two players they might have gotten it done or at the very least made a better run.

I see Spolestra as a good coach but not great. What seperates the good coaches from the great coaches is their ability to manage those teams and get something a little extra that other coaches could not.

Jackson going there would be awesome... just as a slap to Laker fans faces. will NEVER happen with Riles there. they hate each other.

thanks cheesebeef! I think you are exactly right. and as I get older and wiser about basketball...it is clear that you are right. when dallas lost in 06 the flip was completely switched. dallas may have been more talented overall, but they were driven by youth...including avery!!!

miami had riley, shaq, mourning, jwill, payton, etc...of corse wade was the bus driver. but they were an old team across the board and riley did an amazing coaching job help bringing them back from 0-2.

cincinnati, not cleveland. my neighbors actually were cheering for lebron. and the biggest irony is that most of them are GERMAN!

If I were in cleveland I would be home lol.

Gotta give Carlisle tons of credit... This Mavs team is extremly good, if not great, defensively. Could be the biggest factor in their success this year.

So...if LeBron was sent packing for Howard AND Phil went to Miami......I would be fulfilled for the entire season.

Seriously....I wouldn't have to watch a single game.....it would complete me. :D

Congrats to the Mavs! They were the better team since game 4 and earned this one thoroughly!

Great to see Dirk, Marion and Kidd get rings. I can even handle seeing Chandler and Terry get 'em. They all played like a real, honest-to-goodness grown-up basketball team. Good offense and defense, great team play all around. Like Terry said, they made the extra pass.

Just extra bonus to see the Heat and their ginormous egos get squashed. Preening and individual greatness does not win titles. Thank goodness.

Now if Sarver would just learn a thing or twelve from Cuban, the Suns might be there someday...

I think it is hard for people to give mavs credit for their defense, but you are right. before the game chris webber said the mavs were a bad defensive team. the perception of the mavericks is still what it was with nash, dirk, finley, nellie, etc. but slowly over time this turned into a physical defensive minded team. and it showed in this series especially tonight when they were very physical on defense in the paint.

The Suns will probably get the #1 pick in the NBA draft lottery long before Sarver ever manages to get an NBA title for the organization.

And besides, this is a very satisfying ending to the season, esp if the NBA goes into lockout mode for awhile.

The idea of the Heat as champs going into a lockout was almost too much to handle. A new team as the champ not named the Heat, Lakers, Celtics, Spurs, Bulls, Pistons or Rockets? Quite happy with that!

before the game chris webber said the mavs were a bad defensive team.

Lol. Don't worry about that opinion. Like Webber would know good defense if it walked up and bit him in the *ss. Bill Russell he was not.
