Snakes are falling back to .500 after 3 straight losses... Now 4 games back of the Giants and are losing ground quickly in the Wild Card race.

Question: With Overbay and Blum gone, who is the backup to Goldy at First Base??

Growing Concern: Kubel now up to 111 strikeouts on the season. What's most concerning to me is the number of times he swings and misses. And this issue seems to be getting worse with each passing game.
He had such an incredible first half-plus of the season... but, he's only had 3 Hr's and 3 RBI's since July 21st... he's batting .200 over that period... 58 at-bats and 22 K's. Wow!

I would give Wheeler the relief at 1B, he needs the PT. Kubel is in a slump, but isn't that normal? It would be nice to continue his numbers all year, but it rarely happens. I'm more worried about the rest of the OF's production.

It was reported somewhere, but I can't remember where, that Wheeler would be the primary backup at both 1B and 3B to get him some playing time, after it looked like he would be the lead 3B after the departure of Tatman and before the arrival of Chris Johnson. I think that Goldy and Johnson have played every inning at 1B and 3B so far.

Of course, Johnson has 5 HR's and 15 RBI's in his 8 games since arriving and Goldy has become our everyday cleanup hitter.

I wonder if those who didn't like getting rid of Roberts and trading for Johnson are still against those moves?

Another solid outing from a starter (Corbin). And what a pick-up Chris Johnson has been!!! Holy Cow!!!

Kubel went 1 for 5... BUT - didn't strikeout!!!

Unreal. Chris Johnson is becoming my most favorite generic name athlete in Arizona!

Caught one on LA, still 4 back overall though. Win the last 2 this series... :D

Winning the last two would be great.... and then we come home to the Nationals who are an incredible 35-21 on the road. YIKESTRA!!!

Gibby sits Kubel tonight... smart move. Guy needed a blow. Hopefully, he'll get a second win and get hot again!

Agreed. I would give him a couple of days off. I think he deserves it. Besides, I know 82 would love to see CY's hot bat in there. : >)

LOL... CY with a 1 for 4, while leaving 4 runners on base... oh, and a K for good measure.
Kubel, in his lone pinch hit at-bat, struck out.... again. :bang:

Meanwhile, the Giants are pounding the crap out of St. Louis. Hate to say it, but this season is taking a very dire turn. Minor miracles might be needed from this point forward.

CY needs to sit. Bases loaded and he does not even swing at one pitch. I don't see him being on this team next year.

Boy his outburst reminded me of George Brett
It looked like Young leaned over the plate, then jumped back as though it were an inside pitch. Without seeing a replay, it did look like a strike.

I didn't see what JUp did to get ejected, too. Did you guys see that part of it?

It wasn't shown. Upton was fine before the commercial break - had a quizzical look on his face in the dugout after Young was tossed. They come back from break and he was gone. Shulte had no idea what happenend either...

Grace was saying that Upton used some of the select words you can't use against umpires.

CY's outburst was just embarrassing.

Seriously... it was not even at the amatuerish level. And it's just sad that Upton felt the need to get involved, just because his soul-mate CY got booted. Embarrassing... Laughable... yea... :bang:

It opens the door for a good marketing approach in trying to move CY.

He's a 2 1/2 tool player (5 X 1/2), but needs a fresh start somewhere else. :)

Win one, lose one... Win 2, lose 3...

The Dbacks got a very nice win today, a day when the Giants finally lost! Gibby giving Kubel the day off yesterday worked like a charm as he hit 2 dingers today and had 5 at-bats without a strikeout!!
Joe Saunders..... damn he's such a workhorse. 7 strong innings... dropping his ERA down to 3.5 and his WHIP to 1.3.
Hernandez and Putz were lights out as well.

Back to a 4 game deficit behind the Giants... Still doable... I think.

3-4 in PA Not too bad

Not bad at all... Would be nice if we can string together a bunch of wins though... we're essentially playing .500 ball which won't work.

Looks like we get Strasburg tomorrow night. The Nats are a tremendous team on the road this will be a very tough series...
And it's only a 3 game home trip and we're back out on the road for a 6 game roadie against the Cards and Houston. Then a 9 game home-stand before we head to Dodger town...

Somehow, we're gonna have to find a way to put together an 8 out of 10 or better streak... like ASAP!! ;)

I'm sorry but his arm is not even half a tool.
