People ARE out to get him. You know, trying how to figure out the correct way to drive a franchise into the dirt.

Fearless prediction: both Meachem and Simpson end up getting paid more than Braylon Edwards in 2012 free agency.

If Meachem isn't going to be cost prohibitive, why wouldn't he want to stay in New Orleans? Think he's just tired of catching passes from Drew Brees and wants to get laid out by John Skelton or observe Kevin Kolb completing pass after pass to the sideline?

Same with Jerome Simpson. If these guys can be had for four years, $15 million, with $4 million guaranteed, why do you think that their current teams would let them go?

It may not be Meachem's choice. The Saints might not have room for him because they have to re-sign Brees, Nicks, and I think Bushrod. Jimmy Graham may want a raise. Plus, they probably want to upgrade their defense. Saving money on a position of strength(WR) is a likely scenario.

As for Simpson, who knows what Mike Brown will do. He kept going against convenional wisdom and bringing Chris Henry back but then will let guys walk for no apparent reason.

Looky there, Nicks was drafted in the 5th round. Maybe someday the Cards will be able to do what it seems many teams can do:

Find guards in the middle rounds of the draft that can be plugged in and be serviceable.

I remember liking Nicks and he was probably a 2nd round talent but had off field issues, maybe domestic violence, that caused him to drop.
