It's almost like Clancy Pendergast replaced the Lions DC in the fourth quarter.

They killed Dallas for 3 quarters with pressure, then went full chicken mode.

No Socal everytime they made a play Dallas would be giftwrapped a first down anyway, count them up on the TD drive. The NFL is a joke when they allow a game to be handed to an opponent like this game was, just blatant and horrible!

Dallas should have been able to continue a drive in the 2nd after their punter was blatantly run into. Even Pereira was puzzled that they didn't call it.

It goes both ways.

Except it was 4th and 15 in the situation you were referring too and thus it wouldn't have led to a first down anyway

Feel bad for Detroit and them getting hosed. Felt like us yesterday during the 3rd qtr. Guess NFL wants the bigger markets of Dallas and Carolina. Well, Dallas for sure. Probably didnt want cards in the next round because there would very little chance of an Az win. Ratings.....

The Lions lost and officiating was certainly not the biggest factor but its nonetheless disheartening to see how bias the officiating is late in games towards some teams vs others.

My bad. Deleted the post. Although I will say that the PI was 50/50 anyway. Wasn't as blatant as people are making it out to be. Both players were fighting each other and (if we're gonna get ticky tacky) Pettigrew grabbed the defenders facemask before any contact was made.

Questionable calls go both ways in every game. This was one severely magnified though since the refs picked the flag back up.

Have another drink.

I like your thinking!

I think you were watching a differant game than the rest of America outside of Texas :D

Even homer Aikman said it was PI & that saying something. I'm quite sure the NFL will send the Lions an apology letter tomorrow & they will feel a lot better ;)

Hate to see officiating play a role in determining the outcome of the game.

We all know what it feels like when the calls only go one way. I can't fault Detroit fans who are having an apocalyptic meltdown right now.

Yup, one was looking for the ball and the other one had his back turned mugging the guy who was acting like a receiver because he was one :)

Officiating was a huge factor in the 4th. Picking up the flag on that pass interference changed the entire complexity of the quarter. Had it stood, it would have been 1st down for the Lions on the Dallas 30, well within Prater's range(he does have a 64 yard FG to his resume). At worst Detroit eats clock and ends the drive with a FG to go up by 6. We'll never know because the officials did what doesn't get done twice in a season if even once.

I am convinced that it has something to do with maximizing potential revenue.

Actually, the receiver was held (jersey pull) early in the play before either the facemask grab or the PI occurred.

Should have been a defensive holding penalty, automatic first down. And at the least, if you feel the facemask grab should be penalized, the call should have been offsetting penalties, re-play the down.

Instead the ruling and end result was unquestionably advantageous to Dallas!

And while we are at it. . . How stupid is it that rather than using crews that have worked together all season long they piece together an "All-Star" crew??? That is asinine, and begging for problems.

NFL - look at the college game, where they are doing a much better job at getting critical calls correct!

 :soapbox: :moon:NFL!

I guess the Cowboys having the NFL head of officiating on their party bus last year was a smart move
