We need a premier pass rusher in the worst way especially with 90 starting to slide.

He's good BUT he was going against a first time sophomore starter(Taylor Decker) and completely overmatched him.

He's considered a top pass rusher, and I'm sure will be one of the guys we're interested in. Naturally a LT and a QB will be other targets, depending on how the '13 Cardinals perform.

Anthony Barr of UCLA had a quiet first game but not surprising. The part i watched it would be almost impossible to get a sack with all the short passes they were throwing to get the ball out quickly.

Barr was interviewed after the game and he said he was doubled repeatedly and when he wasn't "it was a screen or a short pass. They almost never single blocked me and dropped back." Said it got frustrating but he took it as a compliment that they were that concerned about him.

He also said Nevada cut him like 9-10 times and appeared to be intentionally running away from him the whole game. Not lacking for confidence.

I'm higher on Cyrus Kouandjio than I am Matthews.

Agreed.

Draft Cyrus, the tackle that played alongside Cooper last year and the UW tight end and I'll be happy. And maybe Boyd. Plus Marquis Lee. Oh yeah, we need a punter too so maybe the guy from Iowa State. Okay, we probably should add a DT too but I'd stay away from Nix. Anyway, a punter and 5 or 6 first round picks in this draft and we could be in pretty good shape next year. Lots of talent in this draft including a few franchise level players.

And with the 6th pick in the 2014 NFL draft the Arizona Cardinals select Jordan Matthews WR, Vanderbilt.

Right now Mack is considered a 2nd round prospect, but we will see come draft day.

Honestly, as long as we draft a QB, LT or rush OLB in the first two rounds, I am good with it. I like Cyrus Kouandjio out of Alabama as a LT as well as Corey Robinson out of South Carolina. Those are the best LT options coming out in my opinion. I could be wrong on Jake Matthews, but he looks like an Eric Winston RT type to me. ROLB could be a nice class. If we decided to wait on an OLB, I like Chaz Sutton out of South Carolina as a 3rd round option right now. QB is pretty stacked but the Cardinals will need to figure out if they want to wait another year before they draft a top guy because if they do, he should start right away.

My personal thoughts right now are Corey Robinson in round 1, Khalil Mack in round 2 and Colt Lyerla out of Oregon in round 3. Of course, there is a chance all three could be 1st rounders by the time the draft rolls around.

I think that Michigan has a pretty nice left tackle prospect that we should be keeping our eye on. IIRC, he was better than all of the guys taken in this year's draft.

He might be. I haven't seen much of Lewan, and I can't speak to his athleticism compared to Matthews, Kouandjio and Robinson. Regardless, he should be in the consideration in the first round.

He's not a guard; in this system athelticism in the tackle is more of an "is it enough?" thing than it is a necessity that you want to maximize. Otherwise, Nate Potter would be starting.

Michigan decided to put Lewan essentially on an island against Clowney here:

Pretty solid work there. Hard to tell in that goofy offense that doesn't run a lot of NFL-type plays. Great with his hands, very good strength. Clowney is a monster. Won't he look good in Raider colors?

Lewan is a monster he pretty much kept Clowney in check the whole game but no one remembers that they remember one play and Lewan wasn't on him for that play he was pulling.

I'd love to see us go after Will Sutton in round 2 or 3 depending on the kind of year he has. Tell Dockett just hand over the 90

I don't understand how anyone could watch that film of Lewan and then want to spend a first round pick on him. Dude got owned all day.

Im not a fan of Lewan

If we combined the past 2 drafts, Lewan would probably be the 5th best LT

Theres only one name that should be in front of the brain of all cardinals fans:

Teddy Bridgewater

No other QB is a better match for Arians. Mariotta and Manziel are scramblers. Teddy is a pure, elite as they come, pocket passer. Hes calm with guys in his face and always keeps his eyes downfield. Puts the ball on a dime anywhere on the field.

The game prior to that, Lewan was abused by a true freshman against OSU. Lewan will be considered in round 1 and probably a top 20 pick, but he can't compare to Cyrus. Lewan has the potential to be a solid LT, Kouandjio has the potential to become the best LT in the league.

I haven't seen enough of Matthews at LT and haven't seen enough of Hurst at all. I doubt they are better than Kouandjio though. I know Matthews isn't better.

Keep in mind that pass rushers and LT's, besides QB's, are most valued, and I'm pretty sure that Mack has already done enough, even before he abused Ohio State, to ensure that he'll be drafted in the first round. And while I think that Lewan will also go in the first round, I'll be watching him tonight and throughout the season.

He reminds me of Vinny Curry out of Marshall a couple of years ago. As a matter of fact he had a really good game against Ohio State that out him on the radar. Hasn't done much in PHI but maybe they use him more this year. At the time I wished ARZ had a 2nd rounder that year to take him but PHI took him with the Kolb pick.

Sounds like someone who doesn't watch a lot of OL film. If what you expect is what you see in Madden, then you're right. Lewan didn't do a lot of getting his hands on Clowney and putting him on his back (although he did do that in this game).

But that's not how OL play works, particularly in this offense when the quarterback isn't a traditional dropback passer. On the few plays on this tape where Robinson makes a traditional five- or seven-step drop, Lewan had a nice job mirroring Clowney and keeping him from getting around the corner or back inside.
