Im not a fan of Lewan

If we combined the past 2 drafts, Lewan would probably be the 5th best LT

Theres only one name that should be in front of the brain of all cardinals fans:

Teddy Bridgewater

No other QB is a better match for Arians. Mariotta and Manziel are scramblers. Teddy is a pure, elite as they come, pocket passer. Hes calm with guys in his face and always keeps his eyes downfield. Puts the ball on a dime anywhere on the field.

If Bridgewater has a year like last year could be the first player picked. Yes-- ahead of Clowney.

if a team is picking first, its likely that they have some pretty serious QB issues. Size and arm strength and accuracy. Lots to get excited about there.

Not necessarily. Raiders + Clowney seems like a match made in heaven. Im also not convinced they are smart enough to take a QB with Clowney on the board.

Theres actually not a ton of teams who need a QB anymore. Cards, Raiders, Jets (although who knows what Geno will do), Jags, Tampa. And of those teams, id say the Cards are 3rd worse behind Raiders and Jags.

So conceivably, if we get a top 5 pick we might, very slim chance, have a shot at the best QB.

add in the fact Kirk cousin is now trade bait at QB. Some team can trade for him rather than draft one. We have a HUGE shot at taking the 1 or 2 best QB next year. If we suck. Which, cmon now, its happening

Teddy B. , the next Geno Smith.

?

The season STARTS tomorrow.

We dont know anything about Smith yet. He might might be a bust, he might be a HOFr. Can we get week 1 out of the way before we start writing guys off. thx

Also, I believe that this is Ryan Mallett's contract year with New England. He's exactly what Bruce Arians wants in a QB.

I realize that your opinion is the only one that counts on here. I was implying that , like Smith , I believe Bridgewater is 2nd round draft material.

I hated Geno Smith but really like Bridgewater. However, like I said in the thread I started, I'm done trying to project college QB's to the NFL because I am always wrong.

Kouandjio in round 1 , Mack in round 2.

Every Cards mock draft done should have that combo.

I watched Baylor maul Buffalo 70 -13 and Mack was invisible. Might want to wait on this guy.

Are we sure about Kouandjio? I am not. The Alabama bandwagon is overloaded. Like last year.

Yeah... Are we sure that Alabama puts out good NFL offensive linemen, or is it a situation like at Southern Cal where there are so many above-average talents that everyone looks better.

The last two top-shelf OL prospects to come from the Crimson Tide were James Carpenter (traded for nothing), Andre Smith, and Mike Johnson (1 start in three years before going on IR this year).

It was pretty stunning when Chance Warmack said that the first PS game was the first time someone had brought him pictures of the defense on the sideline.

I share with others the theory about Alabama, where Saban has a system and fits particular types in that system. That does not necessarily < and historically, translate to the NFL. Great teams, without great players. Just a whole bunch of good ones, is my theory.

Well, Julio Jones is a pretty great player. DeMeco Ryans was a pretty good player. But for the most part, I think the issue with these big-time programs (like Texas used to be) is that they recruit so many top guys at so many positions that it's hard to filter for individual players.

It means great value for late-round guys (I've long been a proponent of drafting Texas player late back when they used to be a top football program), because they're above-average, experienced talents at great value.

If you are able, you might catch the Texas Tech, Houston, SMU, Baylor games. There is some very good talent, that U of T passed up, playing on those rosters.
In particular watch the Texas Tech walk on QB Baker Mayfield. The next and better version of Johnny Manziel. ( http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1759352-how-kliff-kingsbury-can-turn-baker-mayfield-into-the-next-johnny-manziel )

While holding out, Andre Smith just decided to eat himself out of the LT position. He was a very good RT last year and was probably a RT all along.

At the time James Carpenter was a surprise pick by Seattle. Not many people thought he'd be a 1st round pick and he was considered a reach.

I'll be interested to see how DJ Fluker does this evening for SD. When it comes to Kouandjio, he's the best of the lot. Watch him play and you'll see he moves well and has the strength to be a dominat LT. I liek Warmack and Smith but the other Bama OL I haven't been all that high on.

I can't believe that things have gotten so bad in Austin that you can just troll Longhorns fans and they won't even stand up for themselves.

CBus, regardless of draft position, those three Alabama OL prospects were graded in the top two or three rounds of the draft, and none of them have necessarily panned out to expectations, or really shown themselves to be worth anything.

I'm a huge fan of Andre Smith, and was before the draft process. He was a dominating RT last year for the Bengals, and he'd always been projected to RT, IIRC. But he's still a right tackle, and had his first productive season in a contract year.

The thing on him is as a 19 year old inexperienced kid from Cameroon, his coach thought enough of him to move his returning starting LT to another position.
That says how high Satan was/is on the kid.

Great athlete, we'll see. He certainly looks the part. Lewan and Matthews are far more polished but much less upside.

That's what I think too. Lewan and Mathews will probably be long term, solid starters at LT while Cyrus can become the best LT in the game.

You can be safe and draft Jordan Gross or take a chance on getting a Walter Jones. I'd actually be okay either way but Im always in favor of drafting the higher ceilng players.

I think an OL of:
Kouandjio, Cooper, a C, Watford, and Massie in a 2-3 years down the road would be as athletically dominant as any OL in the league.

Is it just me or does anyone else see Will Sutton as a great replacement for Dockett. He can really get pressure up the middle and may be able to get him in the second round. Match his stats against Clowneys last year, go ahead.

I watched Kouandjio on almost every play yesterday. He completely manhandled the A&M DE he was facing. He completely stoned him on the pass rush and mauled him in the run game. He's better than any of the 3 LT's that went in the top 4 of last year's draft.

It's early but I think Clowney, Bridgewater, and Kouandjio are separating themselves and are looking like the top 3 picks in next year's draft.
