2014 Draft Prospect Watch...

Although they lost, Mettenberger, for the first time, impressed me last night against Bama. His passing has improved dramatically. I liked the way he stood in the pocket and delivered accurate passes under pressure. He also showed some very good leadership skill and played hard.

Of course, Derek Carr was awfully impressive again last night too.

Look at Carr's stats for the year:

323/465 (69.5%) for 3421 yards with 32 TD's and 4 Ints.

Every year has improved. His comp % has risen along with TD's and his INts have decreased. He's never completed less than 63% of his passes.

Also, Cyrus Koundijo dominated his man all night both in the run and pass game. I'm liking a 1-2 combo of Cyrus and Carr for the Cards but that will likely have to involve some trading for it to happen.

I like Mettenberger a lot also. I think I would give him the edge over Carr simply because he plays in the SEC. He has good footwork and pocket presence and a strong arm. He is a Bruce Arians QB. He should be a first round pick and I hope the Cards take him if he's there when they pick. This is a deep draft class.
