The perception that everyone at a Lakers game is a millionaire is not reality

But the lower-bowl people are, aren't they? Those are all season ticket holders, and that's a huge chunk of change for someone who isn't a millionaire. This isn't like the NFL where there are only eight home games a season, or MLB where even the best seat in the house is ~$100.

many of them actually do have to work for a living and can't simply take a half day to make sure they get to a Lakers game on time.

Right, I should have been clearer that I meant the expensive seats close to the court that are so often seen empty on television. Your typical seven-figure business executive most certainly can empty out a half day if he has something he'd rather be doing. I seriously doubt that the 8-to-5 crowd shows up often in the lower bowl.

You can't go anywhere in LA without traffic being a major issue so many people just don't go.

I guess your point is that, if someone wants to go to an occasional Lakers game, they are willing to concede that they won't get full value for the ticket because they won't be able to get there on time. That's fair enough.

but you're not talking about them emptying out a half day. You're talking about those season ticket holders emptying out 41 half days a season. And unless you're sitting courtside and have more money then God, I don't know what job would allow you to do that to go to a sporting event that wouldn't fire your ass.

seriously, people that don't live in LA proper and deal with the daily Carmaggedon really don't have a perspective on how hellish it can be. For instance, I missed one exit on Friday night coming home from Valencia and added a full hour to my drive because of it. This city sucks golf balls through hoses traffic wise.

He's the perfect Spurs role player.

Guess the question is now going to be raised...what is the best Spurs team ever during this run? I'd probably go with 2007, but this one has to be in the running. They are just a freaking MACHINE.

No way, 2005.

I had no fear going into the 2007 series, and we know what happened with nash's nose and suspensions. In fact, that 2007 team does not beat dallas, which was a nightmare matchup for them at that point, but didn't have to face them because of the 1st round gag.

2005, you have duncan at his best pf all time prime, and he wasn't even the one i feared most! ginobili was absolutely a monster at that point. didnt he drop 48 EASY points on us in the regular season. and you still had parker at all star level.

I liked his columns, but he is god awful on television. Like they put a 12 year kid, who makes fake trades on nba2k, on television.

I like him on the podcast but god your right he's so horrible on TV idk why it doesn't translate something just happens

Agree 100%. He used to write good columns, I haven't seen much from him the past few years because his profile seems to have risen and he's gotten TV gigs based on his reputation and online popularity but that hasn't made him good on TV. He is good for the draft coverage but not games, let alone on national TV for the NBA Finals.

OK. Let's ask the big question.

Is the "Big Three" Model (Celtics, Heat) for building a championship team outdated, or at least now proven to be just one of many.

This Spurs team is dominating with a lesser Tim Duncan and alot of team players that mesh really well together. This model can work IF you have the coach for it.

Honestly, I LOVE watching team ball. I HATE the big three model and the prima donnas it produces. Seeing the Suns win a championship would be awesome. Seeing them do it with the same team concept the Spurs have, would but ultimate.

I honestly wonder whether the retirement of David Stern also has something to do with it. These are Adam Silver's first playoffs, and we're seeing less favoritism for the superstars than we are used to. Both James and Durant have been reduced to mortal status, because they aren't getting every call, while role players have a greater chance to compete and contribute at their own level. It may be that Silver's legacy will be a return of the viability of true team basketball, which would be a great thing.

The big three is not outdated.

San Antonio's big 3-5 is better than what Miami has. Wade and Bosh are performing like role players.

So is Duncan.

18ppg 10.5 rpg 2apg in about 32mpg does not look like role player stats to me coupled with as usual anchoring the defense.

Chris Bosh averages 14ppg 4rpg 0.7apg 0.25bpg 0.75spg..... in 36mpg... that is a joke! FOUR REBOUNDS PER GAME, 1 per 9 minutes.

He's averaged 16 ppg, not 18, and has averaged only 12/7.5 in the last two wins.

Sure, Duncan is outplaying Bosh, but my point is that he's not putting up "Big Three" kinds of numbers. He's just one guy out of many on the team.

Someone averaging 16/10/2 is big three status IMO especially when you factor in that he's the leader of their down low defense which has almost completely shut down points in the paint for Miami. And even if he only averaged 12/8 the last two games, don't you think those numbers are a by product of limited minutes due to both games being such complete and utter blowouts?

Wow. I had not considered this. This makes it even better.

So here's a question. Who wins Finals MVP if (when?) the Spurs win? Leonard? Duncan? Parker? Diaw? Danny Green?

Seriously, they're all in the conversation at this point.

I think it's gotta be Parker but it's close. He's drawing so much attention that it's opening things up for Leonard.

LOL, if Lebron can't do it with the talent he has on the Heat, he just can't plain do it. I think the Heat have to come out and play tonight.

First time this series we get to see Lebron's merk face. I wonder if he(at) can play like this for 4 straight quarters.
