Boozer would be a solid pick-up and he only has one year left on his contract so I wouldn't even mind an high bid just to be safe. He would give us some nice mid-range shooting and rebounding.

I'd take him. He'd be the perfect pick-up for this team. I don't think he's any great shakes, but he might push us into the playoffs and this team needs to start getting there to be taken seriously as a FA destination to the rest of the league. And since he comes off the books next year, it doesn't hurt us going forward.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Cleveland make a major push for him though if he was amnestied. They need big bodies bad there too.

They don't have the cap space. Miami or Houston if they don't match Parsons would be bigger threats IMO.

Carlos Boozer's last 2 years TS%.

Wait for it.

.510 and .489.

His defense is worse.

Channing, oh how I miss you.

I'm sorry. I'll pass.

I know you'll find this hard to believe but we also lost some defense when Frye left too. A decent four, even if he can't cover the perimeter like Channing did, might make up for that loss with better rebounding but I don't know what Humphries has left. I know I was never impressed with his defense but it's been several years since I've watched him play.

Defense where? In the paint? At the rim?

The Suns would get Boozer, assets and an expiring contract. I'm willing to listen.

Also, if we pick him up via amnesty we can't trade him for a year which would take him to the end of his contract. Trading for him would allow us to use him in trade deadline deals.

I simply couldn't be mad if we got Boozer for a one and done, but I don't feel like trading anyone young and or valuable... for a one and done. It would be nice but we thinking long con.

I'll trade a very conditional second round draft pick for him in some year that will likely never come to fruition.

All over the court. I can't tell you how many times I heard Eddie Johnson praising his defense and Eddie used to ride him hard. He wasn't able to guard the bigs with the low center of gravity, they ate him up but he was well above average elsewhere. Far better defense than I've ever seen from him. All told he probably just grades out to slightly above average because of his poor rebounding and the fact he was so bad against players like Cousins and Zebo but he wasn't the liability he'd been in the past. He was at his best guarding the mobile 4's and at his worst pretending to protect the rim as a center.

I agree that Frye wasn't bad at defense, but I think he is closer to average than what you're making him out to be. Easily replaceable as far as that skill set goes.

Somewhere in there I summed him up as slightly above average, perhaps you missed that? I don't know about easily replaceable though. I don't see it in any of the names we've talked about.

No, I saw the "above" and disagreed. He's not and never was above average. He was below average for quite some time. Average was an improvement.

Nothing personal towards you Slin, but i'm sick and tired of this type of statement concerning our franchise.
Suns were ranked 7th in ppg last season. We lost some 3pt shooting with Frye sure, but this team will score points.

nothing personal to you and just about everybody else on this board, but I get really sick and tired of reading all you guys constantly minimizing Channing Frye's importance to this team's success last year. The fact that so many people here think we actually improve by losing Channing Frye frustrates me to no end.

I'm sitting here watching this summer league game being reminded of what I thought most of last year. Power forward was not a problem for us last year. The problem was the center rotation. Miles Plumlee is just not a very good player… at either end of the court.

We are in real trouble if we don't do something upfront now that Channing Frye is gone.

A good stretch 4 really helps all the slashers get to the rim.

True, I'm watching the same game and our line up jumps from mid size small forward all the way up to still uncoordinated giant center. Len looks serviceable but I don't think we will miss Channing on the court that much.

None taken.
I simply don't like Channing Frye's game...nor am i a fan of PF's who aren't strong, can't score in the paint, rebound or move their feet on defense.

My post was less about Frye personally, but rather about this bizarre view that everyone and anyone added to Suns rosters has to be able to shoot and score. That's not how you put together a successful TEAM.

I wish I could have recorded the Sarver interview at the Suns summer league game tonight. He gave me the impression the Suns were now content to be patient after going after a couple of stars (I guess Lebron and whoever) in free agency. It sounds like the Suns chose not to make other moves. Did anyone catch it or record it. I'd like to hear another take.

My impression was similar. I was glad to hear that this team was and will be aggressive going for those "homerun" free agents

Sarver did not seem confident about making the playoffs if my recollection is correct. I want the management to feel this team is moving forward even if they fall short. His calmness about the situation bothered me some. I don't want the Suns to make any bad moves but I like the FO exploring every option even if it is just adding a depth PF.

That was my take as well and it was disturbing. I would have liked him to say we are going to try and pursue players another way and explore other opportunities......alluding to trades. Waiting until the next time the stars align.......meaning stars available and cap space coincide again.....doesn't mean he can get any if them.....as usual.

Hopefully the Suns behind the scenes are still making calls and truly are not content. If he truly is that really bothers me. Don't waste cap space for sure but to be content with this?!?!

What good does it do to "go for" the big name free agents if you never get one? This offseason was the once big chance the Suns had to make a drastic difference in the endless crappy mediocrity they've made us suffer through for years. They cleared the stars out, they had the cap room, they were supposed to lose last year but couldn't get that right, and once again were 9th in conference, just ****ty enough to miss the playoffs and just stupid enough to get the last lottery pick.

Now we have.......nothing. We lost Frye, we resigned Tucker and that's it. Maybe we'll grossly overpay to keep Bledsoe just to say we did something. We need a frontline scorer in the worst way. Plumlee can rebound and defend a little. Tucker can defend and score once in a while. We need a forward who is a go to offensive machine. That, in combo with the ball handling guards, is what will take this team from so so to someone. Lebron would have been perfect, but he missed his Mommy. Melo even would have been perfect. People say he's a black hole, all he does is score. I say, hallelujah. Right now we have.....nothing. A bunch of point guards with no one to dish the ball to. If Markeiff Morris is your best frontcourt player, you suck. We've got room for two max players. Great. Who's left who deserves that? Even flippin Kevin Love is going to go to Cleveland.

I'm glad to hear someone had the same take. Surely, no dumb moves but be aggressive seeking opportunities. I don't mind striking out, but always stay aggressive. I thought the Suns were bargain shopping for a reason.

Then you wait for the right opportunity but stay aggressive. Never spend just to spend like Sarver did with Childress and company. However, Sarver was too laid back tonight for my comfort. I hope the Suns continue to look at depth FCs that do not hurt the Suns long term.

I didn't get that sense from his interview tonight. I think he was more pleasantly surprised by this team's success last year which "fast forwarded the clock for this team" which led to taking some home run shots this offseason.

I would take this laid back version of Sarver over the foam finger waving fanatic who spent a whole bunch of money on "Childress and company" as you stated any day of the week. I think he's matured enough as a owner to let McDonough create the opportunities for this team to land a big time player and put us in contention for a championship
