Wait so we hate on Kobe's contract but not Dirk?

Dirk has previously left money on the table to help the Mavericks manage their salaries. He has always been a team player.

Also, I have always respected Dirk over the years, how he handles himself on and off the court. Whereas Kobe, not as much.

a) Dirk is actually still productive and not coming off back to back seasons where he played like 30 total games.

b) with the cap exploding, the value of the contracts aren't the same. Kobe's pushed the Lakers to the cap and hamstrung them for two years. Dirk's won't do the same because of this year's cap explosion and what people believe will be next year's explosion as well.

Also there was nothing left for them to spend on this year and next year is a team option with 5 mil guaranteed. Not nearly as crippling as what the Lakers had to deal with.

Fair point on the first part but let's not pretend like the Kobe contract prevented anything special from happening. In fact they might've had some money left for a mid-tier FA and been just not terrible enough to cash in on their picks.

The Bucks re-signed Miles Plumlee to a five-year, $52 million deal this week.

Holy Diety, I missed that one. Miles Plumlee? Really? And they had to go to $52 million because, why, someone else was offering 50?

Dirk is the John Elway of that organization. There's value in keeping him through to and past his playing days. Also, I would speculate that if Dirk's game takes a major dive, he's likely to retire and transition quickly (I wouldn't be surprised if this has been discussed in private).

I do like the fact that Kobe retired a career Laker. But he didn't always help the team, that's to be sure. I think it would have been different had Dr. Buss been around the whole time, though.

Dirk could be getting as much as like 33m per year and thus 25m per isn't the same as Kobe getting the absolute max the last couple years.

Yeah, no comparison. Dirk making 25 million against a 90+ million cap is nothing like Kobe making 25 on a 58 million cap.

Paul Millsap Undergoes Procedure For Swelling In Knee
Paul Millsap recently underwent a preventative procedure to reduce mild swelling in his right knee.

“After reviewing the options with Paul to treat his knee and provide him the best long-term care, we agreed, largely due to the time of year, that this was the best method and time to ensure his complete readiness for the start of the regular season,” President of Basketball Operations/Head Coach Mike Budenholzer said.

Chris Bosh has failed his physical and will not be cleared for training camp according to Tim Reynolds of the AP.
An additional report by Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald indicates that doctors have found evidence of "some continued clotting" which is believed to be related to one of two previous blood clot episodes. While the complication is not life-threatening if treated, playing with the condition is considered "unrealistic.
