Walton had a better winning %.

As did Popovich, right? He would have gotten my vote. The Spurs set a franchise record for regular-season wins -- think about that for a moment -- and he had to incorporate some pretty significant shifts of roster focus.

(Edit: Kerr 34-5 for .872, Popovich 67-15 for .817. But I would have gone for Popovich anyway.)

Yeah, sure, someone has to counter my wacky ideas.

Speaking of missing Steve's (or maybe he's a Stephen?) and rational posting, it would be nice if someone could talk Superbone into returning.

Hey, that was a nice thing to say! I'm lucky I saw this as I am bored and going through old posts. The feeling is mutual.

Holy cow... The Spurs DON'T get the big break at the end of a tight home game! When the hell does that ever happen?

Big W for OKC. Got a series to watch now...

That depends. Do you believe someone can catch the ball, turn and jump into the air and then shoot in (less than) .04 seconds? If you don't believe it can be done (and I absolutely don't believe it can), the last time it happened was probably 2004.

Wouldn't the clock have said .4 seconds, not .04... I don't think the clocks ever display hundredths of seconds. Heck, when our eyes see something our conscious brain is not aware of it for .02 seconds

Yeah, you're probably right. I know that at one time the clocks didn't even show tenths, which caused no shortage of controversy in late game situations.

Mike D'Antoni is reportedly going to interview for the Rockets job. IMO, the Rockets are very close to rebuilding.

this makes sense. He did so well with Dwight the first time!

Ha. If there was ever a team NOT built for MDA's offense it is Houston.

This is what I was thinking. It does not look like a D'Antoni team. Also the Rockets would need a PG. They appear very close to rebuilding as there is not much talent besides Harden. Might they consider trading trading Harden to jump start a rebuild?

I need to throw this out there. The Rockets may interview 10-15 head coaching candidates. I can't understand interviewing this many candidates unless a team is picking the brains of candidates for their insight on the road forward. This seems to be what the Kings are doing as well.

Perhaps McDonough seen this all coming when he hired Watson.

I think it would bother me more if my team was interviewing 15 candidates than just one. That many would seem to indicate they are looking for a plan, not just a coach.

I don't really want Harden. Not a fun guy to watch or root for and IMO, while he is the kind of player who can get a team into the playoffs, he is too selfish in all aspects of the game for that team to get anywhere. You just can't play team basketball with a guy like him, he is similar to Carmelo.

I don't think Harden is what the Suns need with a young developing team although I wonder how good a team like the Suns could be if he were willing to play PG. The thing is, Harden does not seem to want to play this position and I'm not sure he is into the team first attitude.

Oh man, Indiana screwing the pooch by letting Vogel walk.

I wish we waited, would have loved Vogel as HC. Gets the most out the roster.

Larry Bird needs to start looking in the mirror.

That 3 he hit to sent the game to OT was amazing. He's probably been their 2nd best player this playoffs with Bosh out.

Unfortunately, Wade and Johnson have forgotten how to pass the ball and play as a team. One on one is not how you win in the NBA. I understand the young players doing this, but I can't figure out how two experienced vets don't understand this.

I think his defensive shortcomings would be more hidden if he were to play PG.

I still think Jeff Van Gundy is the favorite for that job.
