Tom Thibodeau is nearing agreement on a five-year deal in the $10 million range annually to become the coach and president of basketball operations of the Minnesota Timberwolves, league sources told ESPN.com.
Sources told ESPN.com that Thibodeau and the Wolves were in the final stages of negotiations Wednesday on a deal that would give the former Chicago Bulls coach full control of basketball operations in Minnesota.

That is a lot of money!
He hates playing young players, so I wonder how he will handle such a young roster. Can't sit them all!

I'm thinking the Wolves need to run. I wonder how Thibodeau will fit with this roster.
IMO, the Wolves are over-paying. Wow, $10 million a year. They could get a lot of good coaches for this type money.

Which young players did he hate playing?
Brooks agrees with Wizards for 5 year deal worth 35 million

All of them. Butler didn't get time until season 3 and only after Deng was hurt. I refused to play Snell and many feel it stunted his growth and every time McDermott missed a couple of shots last year, he yanked him and sat him for the next game. He was like Whiz in that rookies need to sit and earn time instead of letting them learn and grow on the court. That is why is played Noah, Deng and Rose in to the ground. All players are a shell of their former selves.
I'm not lamenting missing out on Brooks. In OKC and their offense was basically "give it to Westbrook or Durant and hope something good happens". He had, arguably, 2 of the top 5 players in the league, plus some really strong role players and they ran this vanilla/iso boring play style, basically leaning heavily on their superstars to drag them around.
He also had a really troubling infatuation with some players that were absolutely travesties, so washed up their sweat was brackish. Most notably Kendrick Perkins, who had an impressive 4 year run as one of the worst regular players in the entire league, sporting such dreadful +,- splits one might think he was trying to throw games. Playing a guy like that for a full season is pretty bad, 2 years is negligent, Brooks somehow kept running him out there for 4 seasons.
So he's gonna play KG over Towns?
Bahahaha Lord please make this happen.
It goes beyond that! Remember that they traded Harden instead of using the amnesty provision on Perkins so they could extend Harden. I am not sure if Brooks or Presti are to blame for that one, but I am assuming Brooks shares some responsibility there.
Obviously that won't be the case since Towns has already established himself, but I guarantee who ever they pick this year will see little time so they can get a extra win or 2. I also expect to see regression from Zach LaVine due to his style of play.
Yeah I don't see how Zach and Bazz are going to play for Thibs. Especially Bazz, if you don't play defense he doesn't play you.
We got Knight for the Lakers pick, Thomas was traded for a draft pick (the Cavs pick this year) and Thornton. It wasn't a good trade but I don't really regret letting Thomas go, it is the lack of a better return that is now the bummer, but that requires some real hindsight. Prior to the trade there were certainly some speculating that the Suns would have to pair Thomas with another asset just to give him away. Guys with iffy reputations being traded by a team only months after signing with them don't tend to get good value.
IMO there were plenty of worse trades in our history. KT and picks for nothing, Majerle for Hot Rod, the pick that would have been Iggy or Deng for basically cap space, Kidd for Marbury... that is off the top of my head and dating only as far back as I was emotionally there to suffer through. I was too young for the Dennis Johnson trade, which arguably beats all those.
Moral of the story, the Thomas trade does not haunt me... but the knee jerk acquisition of Knight to fill the void created by shipping Dragic and Thomas, that one is the one that stings.
A starting back court of Thomas and Bledsoe would have been tiny.
Kerr is on record as saying he didn't want to do it.
Boston's primary guard rotation is faring well despite lacking length. Along with 5'9" Thomas, Avery Bradley is 6'2" and Marcus Smart is 6'4". On paper, a guard rotation of Thomas, Bledsoe (6'1"), and Booker (6'6") certainly seems intriguing.
