I think he has tremendous upside... just not sure who is gonna draft him. Keep hearing Nuggets in the teens

@stevekylerNBA What's your thoughts on Timothe Luwawu?

I change my mind frequently but right now, I want Bender at 4, Sabonis/Ellenson/Davis at 13 and Ulis at 28.

that would be my absolute nightmare draft

I hate each of those picks.

Perfect scenario - who to believe?

Put your money where your mouth is (ie get your picks down in writing) and let's get some credibility balls rolling!

The updated DX mock is pretty nice

Chriss at 4
Sabonis at 13
Jones at 28
Qi at 34

I would prefer D.Murray at 13 based on their draft and I dont want Qi.

But Chriss at 4 would make me happy and I think Damion Jones is a steal so late in the draft to get an athletic 7 foot center like that.

Chad Ford boggling my mind on Mike and Mike this morning. raving about Ben Simmons, put on 20 pounds of muscle since he left school. Such a talented kid. So why was his time at LSU so disappointing? Well he was 17 but he made a terrible decision not going to Kentucky or Duke or Kansaswith a bunch of other McD's AA players. He had no talent around him and scouts were flocking to see him and the untalented teammates were auditioning for scouts and freezing him out. If he's at Duke or UK that doesn't happen they make the tourney people see how good he is and nobody questions his motor.

Jaylen Brown, well nobody is sure what happened at Cal, looks like an NBA veteran, great body, better in HS never understood why he went to Cal should have gone to kentucky blah blah.

So what prospect not in the top 5 has great upside. Well the obvious one is Skal Labissiere, I had him 2nd on my board before the sesaon started. Obviously bad at UK but blocks shots, can shoot, great upside. WTF? You ripped on Simmons and brown for NOT going to Kentucky and then totally gloss over Skal falling like a stone when he DID in fact go to Kentucky?

Going to Kentucky is far from a sure thing but I would say that Brown and Simmons should have gone to an established well run program like Arizona, Marquette, Michigan or whatever you want to name..

Why? Simmons according to Ford is still going to be the first pick. John Calipari doesn't get these kids into the draft he takes kids that are lottery bound and lets them pretend to be a student for 8 months before turning pro. Jaylen Brown got to experience all sorts of academic things at Cal he would never have done at UK because at UK you are there to play basketball nothing else. They actually do what Ohio State did to robert smith they try to dissuade athletes from taking difficult courses they don't want you taking classes that require studying and time.

Simmons would have been a guy with an iffy shot who didn't attend classes wherever he went, he likely couldn't have stayed eligible at duke. Brown would be a great athlete and a limited player no matter where he went.

Ellenson's stock didn't go up by going to Marquette. Michigan has had kids whose stock fell, and arizona took 3 kids rated first rounders in the same class and turned them into a 2nd rounder and two undrafted picks(Jerrett, Ashley and presumably Tarc).

He would have won more games in college but that has nothing to do with the NBA draft, if it did, he wouldn't be the guy Ford says is the #1 pick.

I would think with kids like Deryck Thornton and Skal seeing their stock fall precipitously in one year at Duke and UK respectively the notion that a kid SHOULD go to one of those schools would be laughed at. He also mentioned Kansas, great coach, terrific program and part of what makes Self so good is he refuses to cater to the elite one and done kids. he recruits them, they pick KU, but if they don't buy in, they don't play much. We've seen that repeatedly in recent years he's actually got Duke and UK etc negative recruiting Kansas saying did you see what happened to Oubre and company there he won't play you as much as I do. That's because he's actually trying to teach them to be better basketball players not just cater to one class of one and dones after another.

Had Jamal Murray picked Oregon he'd still be a likely lottery pick, the scouts knew who he was.

With all those being shopped, who wants to draft anyone???

Why do we always get high picks in crappy drafts???

It's no surprise, I think Philadelphia and LA would be on that list too if they thought there'd be any sincere takers. Philly could get decent return for Simmons but the 10% chance (or so) that he turns into a superstar is probably worth more than the offers they could expect. And nobody in this draft wants to pay the premium associated with the 2nd pick just to draft Ingram.

Look at us, we're stuck at 4 between taking someone who has virtually no game time for review and a forward that has no clue how the game is supposed to be played. Not your typical high lottery picks, that's for sure.

And see, here's the problem with your plan (or part of it). I'm not politicking for Bender and I'm not offering an opinion on Chriss. Here's where I'm at. I know very little about Chriss (4 games, that's it) and I know nothing about Bender (a couple of strengths and weaknesses videos).

The "supposed" experts say that Bender is a very high IQ, high motor player and they say Chriss is a very high flying athlete with low BB IQ and an inconsistent motor. I don't know the truth but I do know this, I'm sick and tired of low BBIQ players. If the front office knows better, on either one of these guys, I'll ride with them.

Ingram is not that great.

He was overrated, I dont think he separates himself from the other top prospects. I would strongly consider taking Chriss over Ingram.

Ingram gives me a bad vibe in his interviews, he just doesn't come across as sharp and prepared. He ums a lot and gives empty answers.

His FT% is cause for concern as to how good a shooter he honestly is and he lacks explosiveness.
I think Otto Porter is a realistic comparison for Ingram.

Maybe Ingram is never even going to be a SF and better suited at the 4 but he needs to add a lot of bulk.

You've been pimping Chriss HARD for how long has it been now? You'd honestly take him over Ingram. At what point do we say you're overhyping him? There is literally zero professional opinions agreeing with you on this decision. To me, you're making it seem like he's the second coming of pre-microfracture Amare Stoudemire. I just don't see the same comparison here. Other than the lack of defensive awareness.....I would shiver at the numbers early Amare would have put up at Washington. Let me say this, they would have been a smidge more than Chriss put up.

Agree. Chriss has some huge questions marks around him as well. Having said that, I still take him over Bender who is going to be another big man playing below the rim his entire career. There probably isn't a worthy player to take at #4 unless someone unexpectedly falls.

I'm okay with that. He's going to spend much of his career on the perimeter and it's not like he's nailed to the ground. He can and does get up, he's just nothing special in that regard. But where he's supposed to be special - his court vision, passing, understanding angles, foot speed etc., those are the skills that will determine his value in the NBA. He has the kind of strengths I really want to see us draft, the question is whether they are NBA level or not. And to that, I have no idea.

Fair enough. I just don't think the Suns need another big man who isn't going to help you in the middle and instead is used as an occasional threat to shoot a 3 to spread the floor. Bender is going to get pushed around under the basket and because guys are going to be much bigger in the NBA will play below the rim even more so at this level IMO.

Bender has a 9-3 standing reach and is most likely still growing. Its actually better for him to not jump much. He will still block alot of shots, but get called for less fouls and will stay healthier. He has good feet, good agility front/back and side to side. He can defend out to the three point line. His length alone will be quite enough.

Chriss is more than a year younger right now than Amare was at the draft.

So you think that a highschool junior Amare would have done better at Washington than Chriss?

Not so sure.

Shawn Kemp another frequent comparison for Chriss also was a project coming into the NBA and I'd argue was not as far as Chriss who is showing very advanced offensive moves already. Chriss already finishes off of spin moves, off hookshots, off the dribble. Amare did not have these moves until his sophomore season in the NBA when he was 21.

Look I prefer Chriss to Bender too but comparing him to Amare or Kemp is wishful thinking. He reminds me more of Marion than either of those two guys from the standpoint of how he moves. He reminds me very little of Amare or Kemp in terms of how they played even before developing moves in the NBA. That's just me.

Sorta makes tanking seem silly.
Quite the opposite, you notice how neither Philly nor LA is trading their pick because of Simmons/Ingram?

The whole point of tanking was for Simmons or Ingram, no fan in any fanbases ever said "lets tank for Chriss!!" or "lets tank for Bender" or "lets tank for Hield!!".
