Quick takeway: Players are livid about the free agent market and, in rejecting the league’s pace-of-play proposal, intend to send the message they will not roll over. This is how negotiations go, but at the same time, the market is coloring every interaction between the parties.

I asked an MLB executive what he expects on the free agent and trade markets from here. "My latest guess is a consistent trickle for the next few weeks, and then a mad rush the week before spring training,'' he said. That pretty much summarizes the offseason. #consistenttrickle

Howie Kendrick will earn $3 million this year and $4 million next year and can earn additional $1.1 million a season if he’s full time player and reaches 500 plate appearances in his deal with #Nats

Interesting point brought up by Doug & Wolf, with most front offices being ran by analytics the need to find reasonably priced players who are productive is trumping the handing out of A-Rod type deals to "superstars". I feel analytics and scouting are the way of the future to try and build contenders through the draft and trade away guys before they are due for monster deals or let them walk and collect compensatory picks.

Source: Red Sox offer to JD Martinez believed to be roughly $125 million over five years. That's what OF Josh Hamilton got from the Angels five years ago.
Goodbye JD, if he's holding out for more than that then good luck. He better hope BOS doesn't start looking into Moustakas or turn to the Machado sweepstakes.

Jose Bautista is one of more than 25 outfielders yet to sign in this brutal free agent market. His agent, Jay Alou, says he's working out diligently in expectation of a comeback season at 37. Bautista hit 23 HRs and logged a .203/.308/.366 slash line in 157 games with #BlueJays.

That should be the hashtag used for men with pee issues.

Haven't paid much attention to the offseason but it seems like there's little going on w/r/t the D-Backs and re-signing JD is a pipedream.
