I'm pretty much resigned to getting Doncic if we pick second - or third or fourth, if he's there. If we're picking fourth with Ayton, Bagley and Doncic gone, I still favor Bamba. I trust guys to work their fannies off to improve offensively but not so much to improve defensively.

Doncic’s agent is already talking about steering him to the right fit if it means ignoring other teams. I can only think of one place he’d want to go among the bottom-4/5 teams.

That is generally true but since there are questions of his motor, I wouldn't be so sure that Bamba would work that hard to improve on either end. He does have the highest upside on the defensive end and he's decent on that end now but he's been playing lesser competition that he towers over in the NCAA and High School. So I wouldn't trust his defense to translate that well, if it doesn't then you're stuck with a more athletic Alex Len.

Ayton is skipping the draft combine. If Doncic didn't already say he wasn't going to do individual workouts he may have a shot at stealing the #1 overall spot from him but I can't see it happening since missing workouts is bigger than the combine. Missing the combine won't help Ayton clinch that spot though.

EDIT: Doncic will be in the Euroleague playoffs so he won't be available for team workouts prior to the draft. It's not really a choice of his to miss those and it's totally understandable why he won't take part. Current Team Playoffs > Workouts for Draft

Also worth noting...

Robert Williams missing the combine is a puzzler for me unless he already has a promise.

He should be wanting to up his value.

The Suns are probably stuck with him if they don't get the #1 pick, and maybe even then.

That's how I'm seeing it now. Id take Jackson over Bamba because he plays harder. Plus plays both sides of the ball.

Tidbit. Jackson is over a year younger than Bamba.

Well, one of my many draft fantasies involves trading back to the 2 because that team just has to have Doncic. Then, we draft Ayton and use the assets acquired to pick Young, saving our 16th pick for Robert Williams who then goes on to win Co-ROY with Ayton and Trae. Also, Aaron Holiday inexplicably falls to us in the 2nd round, completing what will become an historic draft class for the Suns as they go on to win 11 straight NBA Championships.

Stupidest song ever written. The lies we tell our kids. All I ever wanted to do was dunk. No amount of wishing was ever going to make it happen.

I dunked in my dreams a couple times. That was cool.

And once on a 9.5 foot rim while on Mushrooms. That was bizarre.

You can't fool me, I recognize Jiminy Cricket when I hear him.
Ah, I guess Cliff Edwards was lip syncing.

Y'know, once upon a time Dion & the Belmonts had a pretty good version, too. In their "Where or When" period and their 3- or 4-part harmony.

Of course, we used to sing, "No request is too obscene." :)

Afraid it's starting to look like that. As I have said many a time, I don't have so much of a problem with taking him 3 or 4, since anyone else at that spot is a flyer, too. But passing on Bagley at 2 for Doncic is going to turn out to be a mistake. And taking Doncic over Ayton at number 1 is plain idiocy.

But this is the Suns we are talking about - an entire history of bad fortune (and foolish choices, especially in recent years). I fully expect them to shoot themselves in the foot if the lottery doesn't do it for them.

I am beginning to really sour on Bagley as I have watched him play defense. He is a hardworking kid. He is just totally lost. He cannot keep track of his man. He cannot grasp any kind is switching scheme. With that, I would be putting him right with Porter at the bottom of the top 7.

Bagley is undeniably special, but I tend to agree with your concerns. I could easily see him as an Amare type, who is absolutely unstoppable but who also frustrates with his deficiencies. I'm actually more confident in Bagley than any other prospect in this draft when it comes to putting up stats and finding individual success in the NBA...but I question how much impact he will have on wins relative to the other top prospects.

It's the DeMarcus Cousins conundrum...elite numbers, all-star, but does it translate to winning?

The Suns can't win. If they pick Ayton, Doncic will become the star player from the draft.

Real Madrid just finished playing a game against another Spanish club, Real Betis.

Doncic finished with a triple-double in 22 minutes:

17 pts
10 reb
10 ast

NO fouls.

OK. In a Euro game, that is impressive. What was his percentage from the three?

It's time to start looking at Doncic as a star player, rather than what position he plays.

You make room for a player like this because he can play most anywhere on the court.
