Cards are going to have to draft a QB this year.

Good or bad a young QB provides something the team needs and really lacks.

Hope.

because there is none with the status quo

There is no "waiting until the top of the 2nd round". We need to do everything in our power to get the best qb in the draft next year. ANYTHING!.

I hope Arians retires after the season cause I really fear Josh Allen is the QB he’ll get & I think that’s a pink slip for any coaching staff.

I have a feeling his stock is going to shoot up like Mahomes. He's not going to launch 50 yard bombs with ease but ARZ doesn't need that kind of QB IMO. They need someone with a quick release, accuracy and mobility to extend plays...the QB Palmer ain't. Mayfield is really growing on me.

Here is a passing breakdown on Mayfield. First pass is almost a 60 yard bomb.

I certainly do not hope that Arians retires, and I have not yet studied the quarterbacks in the draft well enough to have an opinion as to where they are likely to be selected. I do know, however, that Allen is a pretty athletic guy with a lot of potential, and it seems to me that Keim and Arians like to roll the dice on such players in the first round. You could argue that both Jonathan Cooper and Deone Bucannon fits that mold but I think it is clear to everyone that D.J. Humphries, Robert Nkemdiche and Haason Reddick certainly does. They are all highly talented guys that for some reason simply did not reach a high level of production in their college careers, yet Keim wanted to try to develop them so that they could fulfil their massive potential. It seems to me that Josh Allen would be a logical continuation of the trend, if the Cardinals wants to select a quarterback in the first round, and if Allen will be of first round consideration come April.

Another pattern seems to be that both Keim and Arians like charismatic players, which both Humphries and Nkemdiche apparently is as it relates specifically to the first round. Again, I have not yet looked deeper into the players that might be in the upcoming draftclass but from the little I have seen and read, I think Josh Rosen might be the most charismatic player and leader of the quarterbacks who could be selected in the first round.

I very much hope that some of you posters that know about these guys will state your view on the matter.

By the way, I just want to mention that even though he is only a redshirted sophomore and probably will not sign up for the draft after this season, the quarterback Daniel Jones out of Duke has really impressed me. He might get selected in the first round if he does decide to come out.

I said he won't be launching 50 yard bombs regularly. His arm is not in the Mahomes class but in more like Brady's class. But my point is ARZ doesn't need to be an all or nothing passing game. Accuracy on short to intermediary routes should be the focus with an occasional shot down the field to take away predictability.

I wasn't challenging you...just found it interesting and wanted to share. I am not pro or con Mayfield yet...haven't watched him play.

I think skill set is and should be the top evaluation criteria. College stats mean nothing in the NFL.

Somewhat agree. Need to see some type of production.

It’d also be nice to display such skills in college, too.

The only reasons Josh Allen is getting the love he’s getting by some is because he’s tall, white, & has an arm. Nothing to do with actual skill.
