And with a very very limited play book, he took them to the Super Bowl. Just proves that in the right setting and an intelligent approach, big tough strong QBs can learn to pass better once they get to the NFL. But you have to take it slow with them, and of course it helps to have a top D and decent OL, not to mention weapons especially running attack.
Don't some teams make bringing in a new young QB easy when they already have other pieces in place. There have been many a QB who you wouldn't have ever wanted to be your starter who took their team to a SB. Teams that think drafting that top QB is going to change their teams success instantly on his own are just setting the kid up for failure. Get the rest of your team in place before putting so much emphasis on your QB being successful. If one falls in your lap on draft day, great. But in the mean time, simply keep building your team around the fact that one day you will be able to plug a decent QB in. That's my simpleton way of approaching it.
Not too many teams ever get to be the Browns, who this year could actually do both in the draft and in FA. If they do it right and with some luck, they could build a dynasty in 2018. Personally, I hope they pull it off, if for no other reason than that I hate the Steelers.
