ball handling and being able to navigate in the paint and against defensive pressure is far more important than shooting as a PG.

If you are a great shooter but can't run an offense you are not going to be very useful as a PG.

You make the team at #3 or #4 trade up for Barrett while still getting Morant.

Barrett clearly is the #2 prospect in the draft and Morant is somewhere in the 3-5 range in my opinion.

Culver, Reddish are players I could see being picked over Morant by teams.

Agreed but the NBA draft is not the same as the NFL draft. Teams tend to IMO ignore "slotting" a bit more. If they think a kid fits them they pick him even if there are 2 guys on the board who might be better prospects, but play another position.

I agree the goal would be have a trade in place so you get Morant and someone else gets Barrett but sometimes it just doesn't work that way.

One could argue that's what Sac should have done this year when they decided they wanted Bagley over Luka and Young for example. They went ahead and took Bagley and they insist if they had it to do over again, they'd still pick him.

Morant most likely won't fall past 3 especially with several bottom teams could use a point guard, also outside a few games this year reddish has been garbage anyone picking him is gambling on pure upside potential

Man I looked at a bunch of mock drafts and I think this might be one of the worst drafts I’ve ever seen. It may not end up that way (there are always surprises), but there’s just a whole lotta stank past the top 3.

It's really not that great after Zion. I know it can be argued Zion is so far ahead of everyone else that it makes the #2 and #3 players look worse in comparison but I don't think Morant would have gone in the top 10 last year. He wouldn't go before Trae Young and the soonest chance of him being selected was #8 where Collin Sexton was taken. If he doesn't go there, and there's a good chance he wouldn't, does he go before or after Shai? Perhaps to the Suns at #16 then. Barrett looks better but not a whole lot better. He would probably go in the same area, #9-15 with a chance of him taking Mikal's spot at #10 if Philly wanted an offensive punch instead. Then after those 2 guys who is left? Not a lot.

And when Morant gets his @$$ handed to him by Markus Howard later this week, it will look even worse...

Yeah I generally agree with this. Though I think I go Morant over Sexton.

And he distributes much better than Sexton.

Not really. Yes, more assists, but also more turnovers. A lot of bad/forced passes and shots. A recipe for disaster in the NBA (and even in high level college ball, as we will see later this week).

This is why I think the Suns need to trade the pick for a PG (Holliday? Lillard? Etc) if it’s not the #1 overall pick.

Draft reminds me a lot of the 2013/2014 draft.

Zion's defense is, to me, what sets him apart from some other athletic freaks that have gone at the top of the draft. We've seen guys who can run like the wind and jump out of the gym, but Zion's ability to show up, seemingly out of no where and disrupt shots and cause turnovers, while also turning those plays into easy points for his team on the other end.

The guy is incredible.

He's like the anti Josh Jackson. Instead of gifting the other team 10 points per game through sloppy play, he's, literally, stealing 10 points a game through hustle and awareness.

Shai was a better prospect than both Sexton and Morant. Morant basically IS Sexton, only against far weaker competition.
lol!

I would guess that both of them would have been taken before Sexton, but not before #7.

Barrett is way more highly rated than someone like Bamba.

Barrett is a prodigy who has been on the draft radar as a potential top pick for at least 3 years.

Claiming that he wouldn't have been a top prospect in last years draft is absurd.

Barrett? Certainly. Morant? I still don't believe he is a better prospect than Okobo or Melton.

NBAdraft.net rated Bamba at 96 and Barrett at 98. So, right in the same range. That is one example anyway.

I kinda disagree with this. If Morant (with this year's performance and numbers) was in last year's draft, there would have been an ongoing debate about who was better--Trae or Morant. The numbers are similar. Trae is a better outside shooter, but Morant is more athletic. That convo would have gone on and on.

Just thinking about Zion. I can see teams tanking now, even if the percentages are low. He is not only a very good two way player. He is superstar material AND he has charisma. He plays with an enthusiasm and charisma that is perfect to sell the NBA today. This league is about entertainment after all, and that kid will be the most entertaining player in the league to watch (maybe next to Steph) from day one. He is going to make a lot of people a lot of money.

Yes, but the bottom three teams all have an equal chance at him. Once you are bottom three, there is zero reason to lose more, and we are all but guaranteed of being bottom three (and WERE all but guaranteed of being bottom three even had we won last night).

But the lower you are the less likely you are to move out of the top three slots if one or two teams jump up.

But there's only one player worth drafting as far as the Suns are concerned, and he is sure to go #1.

IMO Bamba is a total projection and still is. No way in hell did he deserve to be a "96".

I think Zion, Barrett, and Ja Morant would still be easily top ten picks

1. Williamson
2. Ayton (still think he belongs here)
3. Doncic
4. Young
5. Bagley
6. Jackson
7. Barrett
8. Ja Morant
9. Carter
10....I won't even list Bamba because I don't think he belongs in a top ten of anything....

I would put Carter, Shai, Mikal Bridges and Sexton over Morant.

I would go with shooting first. As you can see above, I put the big men who can shoot over Morant as well. I also put Barrett ahead because his potential is really good as well.

You could argue that Morant belonged ahead of them...maybe even at 4 ahead of Young...
