Smith now looking like the player we hoped we drafted #7 overall. Hitting .280 with 10 HR & 55 RBIs. Showing the same discipline as college with a near 1:1 K to BB ratio (53 K to 52 BB). I still think he is the heir apparent at 1B in a couple of years. I do feel ARZ can build a competitive team from their farm in a couple of years if they don't trade these guys away and they develop at the pace they have been. They may not have a top prospect SS anymore but they have some solid ones in Perdomo, Alexander & Peguero all of whom are under 21 and have looked pretty good so far.Jeff Wiser (@OutfieldGrass24)

@jacksongenerals 1B/LF Pavin Smith was 2-5 yesterday for @jacksongenerals and has seven hits in his last four games. 3B Drew Ellis hit his 13th and 14th home runs of the year. #DbacksMinors

Good, I was under the impression he wouldn’t be pitching due to pitching late into his HS season.RP: Blake Walston, AZL D-backs (Rookie)

Walston posted a pair of perfect two-inning outings in the Arizona League last week, striking out four in each. A 6-foot-5, 18-year-old lefty whom Arizona took with the No. 26 overall pick in June, Walston has fanned 11 batters and allowed two hits in five pro innings.
