Mets are committed sellers now, but they don’t believe they can do total rebuild in NY. Syndergaard is coveted by others (esp Yanks but many teams) but remains unlikely to be dealt now. The hope is 1 good start for Wheeler will draw interest. Vargas probably most likely to go.

Tyler White has been traded from the Astros to the Dodgers for minor league RHP Andre Scrubb, per source. ⁦‪@jakemkaplan‬⁩ had White to Dodgers first.

The Rangers have acquired RHP Shane Carle from the Braves for cash considerations. Carle has been added to the 40-man roster and optioned to Triple-A Nashville.

Dodgers, who need little more than late-inning pen help (maybe spare catcher), looking at Edwin Diaz and Mychal Givens, among others. Relief market is strong even if Giants, with excellent pen pieces, don’t sell now. Top relievers Yates, Giles, maybe Vazquez all trade candidates

The Royals could be getting closer to trading Jake Diekman, according to a source. The Dodgers and Braves are believed to be two clubs showing serious interest in the lefty reliever.

Mets position on trading with Yanks: not completely opposed but if all things r equal they r trading player (ie Noah, Wheeler) elsewhere; Yankees’ belief: Mets probably won’t trade with them at all, short of paying huge premium, (but that doesn’t mean it’ll stop them from trying)

As a Phillies fan, this team doesn't need to be buyers but rather sellers or make no moves at all. No need to deplete the farm system to not make the playoffs. This team is horrible and needs a managerial overhaul first. Kapler needs to go and take Klentack with him.

Source confirms the Mets' return for Jason Vargas is 26-year-old catcher Austin Bossart, who was hitting .195/.303/.335 at Double-A. A rival evaluator described him as a good defender without much offense to his game, as the numbers testify.

Mets still engaged on Syndergaard (who’s been linked to SD, Hou, NYY, Oak and Minn) but still seem much more likely to deal Wheeler. Makes sense. Stroman trade highlighted Mets interest in 2020; Noah under control thru 2021, Wheeler a FA after year.
