Industry source confirms that LHP Derek Holland has signed a minor league contract with the #Pirates. He'll get an invite to spring training. He can opt out if not on opening-day roster.

Holland made 51 relief outings last year for Cubs & Giants: 6.08 ERA, 1.51 WHIP, 8.8 K/9

Infielder Sean Rodriguez and the Miami Marlins are in agreement on a minor league deal, a source tells ESPN. Rodriguez, 34, played every position last year for the Phillies except catcher -- and even had 1.1 scoreless innings as a pitcher. Good potential fit as a utility guy.

LHP Donnie Hart has signed a minor-league deal with the Athletics, per source. Hart, who gets a non-roster invite to big-league camp, has a 3.13 ERA in 98 career appearances with the Orioles, Brewers and Mets.

Nice sneaky depth moves, if either can bounce back. No risk, potential high reward.

I wonder if there is any money left to bring in Hazen favorite Brock Holt as a super-utility guy to fill out the roster. With our primary holes filled, this is a luxury worth considering...if we can afford him.

Sadly it appears that in taking on the Price contract (where he will likely have a resurgence in pitcher friendly Chavez Ravine), the Dodgers ended up giving up less to get Betts (just Maeda, Verdugo and lesser prospects) than we gave up for Starling Marte.

The result of Joc Pederson’s arbitration hearing is expected today. According to a source, it will NOT change the terms of the #Angels’ deal with the #Dodgers. Pederson asked for $9.5M. LAD offered $7.75M. Trade is contingent on the Betts blockbuster, which is not yet official.
