Marcus Smart is expected to return to the Celtics lineup against the Nets.

He would be a perfect backup big for us, but I don't think we have anything of value to trade for him.

my guess? He goes Nets or Lakers.

I think the Celtics have a huge trade exception as well from the Gordon Hayward trade.

Wow. This is huge.

Yeah its a bit pondering because they're in the mix for the playoffs, the timing is a bit off, maybe they're trying to get something before they lose him. Looks like his contract expires after this season.

It’s really not. Aldridge is utterly washed.
I don’t know you say that. His numbers seem consistent with prior seasons accounting for drop in minutes this year. Granted I haven’t watched him, so I can’t comment on his actual movement or defense. But all else seems relatively in line.

I don't think he fits the Spurs style of play anymore. They are a more running team and they have been winning without him. Aldridge has missed a number of games. I think the Spurs want to accommodate him by finding him a new home at this stage of his career.

If the Spurs can trade Aldridge it saves them money and they may receive some type of assets in return.

This would be the best option for the Spurs.

Another thought. If the Spurs decide to buyout Aldridge they can save money another way. Aldridge might be willing to accept less money in a buyout if another team is willing to pay him more than the minimum salary.

The Suns do have the biannual exception of close to $4 million so theoretically they might be willing to pay him more than the minimum..

The game limit for two-way players has been eliminated.

I wish the Suns would take advantage of this as well as add a 15th roster player.

Dario keeps clowning on everyone pining for Aldridge and Drummond

Do you really believe Dario as the sole dependable big will bring this team a championship? That's how you sound making remarks like this. His health and availability has been up and down all year, having played in just 18 games this season.

We need depth in the frontcourt and unless Dario can be cloned and his clones don't count against the salary cap or roster count, we need to add another big for when Dario is out and other bigs aren't playing well.

Not a single poster has said anything negative about Dario in the last month or two, with the possible exception of noting his athletic limitations. No one has said they want to replace him.

I'm not so sure P.J. Tucker shouldn't have taken the Rockets offer.

By Adrian Wojnarowski and Tim MacMahon, ESPN:

The Rockets thought they were close to signing Tucker to a two-year extension for $17 million with $10 million guaranteed, sources said, but the Houston front office balked after Tucker's camp countered with a proposal for a fully guaranteed two-year deal worth $24 million.

Eric Gordon of the Rockets is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
