It's not really surprising he is shooting below 50%.

Like half his shots are 3's, and a ton of them are flailing throw the ball up as fast as I can 3's.

Yeah he can't get open looks the way people defend him unless he goes to the basket. That's where Poole helps him and Klay will when he gets back if he's shooting well. It spreads the floor so there's one less defender. I love GP 2 but until recently he was often in the dunkers spot, even now on the wing his man is sagging so there's an extra defender at the rim if Steph drives. With Looney and Draymond there's just too many guys you can help off right now with Steph. That's what made last year for him so amazing, 48% 42 from 3 with nobody but Wiggins as a consistent threat to score, but he only played 63 games he got hurt and got rest during the season. This year he's played 35 of their 37 games.

I also think Kerr changing the sub pattern has impacted Steph, he's doing it to try and help the team and I think it DOES help, but Steph was so used to play the first quarter, sit the first 6 minutes of the 2nd quarter, play the 3rd quarter sit first 4-6 of the fourth that I think having that changed has impacted him.

I expect he'll get the % up he's too good not to but it is definitely a thing right now

That was that refs 1st NBA game, according to accounts I've read on Twitter. It was apparently mentioned during the broadcast a few times before that happened.

I imagine any sort of Techs or fines will be rescinded for Lowry because that is one of the worst ejections I've ever seen.

I agree unless there were some things leading up to the ejection.

He had the balls to toss a seasoned vet for that in his first game?!? Talk about a bad sign for the rest of his tenure.

If he wasn't coming out of retirement, I wouldn't mind kicking the tires on a 10 day. He was solid here before. Arguably had his best season here. He also is a good spark plug off the bench.

The ball hoggery and the awful defending seems like the opposite of what we're trying to establish here.

I'm kinda blown away that he was coaching, the guy's career revolved around freakish athleticism, athleticism that he arguably wasted with some awful tendencies on the court.

Wow. Big time shot for RJ Barrett after a rough night shooting. Buzzer beater to beat the Celtics by 3. Boston is 2-11 in games decided by 5 points or less.

I thought he pulled it together the last 2-3 years of his career. Played a lot smarter.

The Klay Thompson story will be interesting.

I would think it will take some time, but players surprise me all the time. Kobe and Boogie were shadows of themselves after these types of injuries. However, KD seems to have bounced back fine.

Grant Hill is an example of this. He played very well for the Suns after being a shell of himself after a major injury. Players rarely get better after a long time.

Just both acls, idk. I think the second was a complete tear iirc

Derrick rose as was never the same, has adapted his game to still be a serviceable player. Klay didn’t have the same game as drose so KT could still be an assassin from 3, just the defense could drop off.

It was one ACL and an Achilles year for Thompson, no? Even if so, that seems like a gnarly combo to come back from.

Klay is finally back. Crosses over on Jarrett Allen from 3 all the way to the rim and punches it. Then hit a 3. Clearly still rusty and stiff on defense but 7 points in 7 minutes so far

Golden State is good but they don't scare me much. They rely so much on Steph performing that they're totally beatable in a 7 game series.

Part of why they've taken us to task in previous matchup is how this team concedes games when they're losing. This Suns team doesn't lose close games, they get blown out. I think part of that is by design because they're saving themselves. Why go all out in game 27 of the season. I believe we'll see them get better as the season goes on in that regard because games will mean more and more.

Just so I'm not misinterpreted, I'm not saying Golden State would make an easy opponent. I just don't see them as this insurmountable juggernaut. I'd definitely bet on a healthy Suns team in a 7 games series, especially if we had home court.

I don't think anybody thinks the Warriors are a juggernaut they're still a very small team. If you saw the game last night Cleveland often has Markkanen, Mobley and Allen on the court at the same time basically 3 7 footers. At one point last night the 2 tallest Warriors were Wiggins and Iggy. That's why getting Wiseman back is important although it's not clear how much he'll play, they need some size.

But Klay's impact was immediate. In the 2nd half he came in during a dead ball, they inbounded to Porter he faked a handoff to Klay for a 3, went to the basket drew the help and passed to Steph in the corner for a wide open 3 swish. That play worked because Klay was on the court and the defense was worried about his 3 off the handoff.
Everyone will get better shots now even Steph.

In Miami's recent win over the Suns I think they played very similar to the Warriors. They moved the ball well and hit a lot of open threes all the while plugging up the middle. Admittedly the Suns trio of Ayton, Crowder and McGee looked slow and rusty.

The key to beating any team like this is playing good defense from the beginning of the game, rebound and not let them build confidence with easy shots. In the Heat game the Suns tried to get into a 3-point shooting contest with them early in the game. At the time I commented that isn't going to work. The Suns need to use their size inside and Chris Paul to help control tempo.
