He had Butler for 2 months and the Sixers lost to the Raptors on their way to a title. Do you not recall how that series ended? It really could have gone either way. That was one of the craziest buzzer beaters in an elimination game I've ever seen.

What a heartbreaking way to lose a game.

Eh...

I disagree. The Sixers management has screwed up basically every move they've made for a decade... outside of drafting Embiid. Their run of draft mistakes is a horror show, his most decorated "teammate" is Ben Simmons... a gutless clown.

When I think of star players who have done the least with the most I would put both Harden and Durant ahead of Embiid. Above that, at least Embiid has toughed it out through a lot of BS, while basically everyone in this generation of stars, other than Booker, has either had success or bailed at the the first real opportunity.

As bad as we drafted the last decade the Sixers probably drafted worse and from even juicier draft positions, and then they compounded their draft mistakes by idiotic decisions like choosing to dump Jimmy Butler over Tobias Harris and Ben Simmons.

In some hypothetical world where we don't do the Durant trade and could still have landed Beal using Paul and used Ayton + picks to land Embiid... A team built around Beal, Booker, Bridges and Embiid... I'd much rather have that scenario than our current one.

But that leaves us with Shamet still LOL

I just don't think Embid's style of play works very well in today's NBA.

You just don't want the focus of your offense to be the center anymore, you want a star that you can put into a pick and roll effectively, which is why Jokic still works but he is almost one of a kind.

I really doubt any team he is the best player on will ever win a title.
I was struggling with this concept as well. I was actually having a tough time imagine what an embiid/Booker/beal offense would look like.

It sounds like James Harden "liar" comment was mostly about not being traded "quickly" by Daryl Morey after he opted-in to his 2023-24 contract, per reported sources.

Well, he certainly couldn't tell them that they had an under the table handshake agreement (if it were the case) as they'd both be in big trouble. I'd take what he says with a grain of salt.

The problem is both Harden and Morey have way too high opinion of Harden's value.

It's extreemly low and neither of them understood that. I don't think he was lying, he truly believed other teams would want to trade for him, and I think he found out they don't.

I agree. I think this is more about the contract, Harden expected to be rewarded for the "pay cut" he took last summer.

In reality, his contract is an albatross that the Sixers would probably be willing to give away, if only they didn't have to take absolute trash back in return.

Harden is ruining his own market though. Having quit on 3 teams, no NBA team is ever going to give him a lucrative contract again. He should have opted out, his annual salary wouldn't have been what he's going to get this season but he could have gotten a multiyear deal to make up for it.

Harden reminds me of the have gun will travel mantra.

James Harden fined $100,000 for comments made regarding Daryl Morey, not playing for the 76ers and public trade demands.

The Mavericks plan to waive and stretch JaVale McGee. That signing didn't turn out well.

Mac McClung will sign a partially guaranteed deal with the Magic.

I'd take Javale back in place of Ish. Why not. I'd much rather see Javale than Ish in a game that matters.

If the Suns haven't made promises to certain players, I'd consider it.

The Suns may want to keep Ish's spot on the roster flexible, as I believe it does not need to be guaranteed until January.

Javale only gives you one thing of value, post defense.

I'm really not sure if Ish isn't more valuable. I don't think I would do it.

You’re smoking sherm if you don’t think Bridges goes in that deal with Ayton as the sweetener.

While o agree I’d rather have that I also don’t think that’s even reasonable, much less realistic. You’re talking about swapping a 35 year old injured KD for a 29 year old embiid who has been in the MVP race for the last three years. Those talks ALSO begin and end with bridges. If anything Ayton gets swapped for cam Johnson - or has to be included - for the premium difference in age alone.

Our repulsive overpay for Durant is skewering reality.

... It is virtually impossible to give up more for a player than we gave up for Durant. It should not have happened and it won't happen again.

Also, the Sixers have engaged in far worse trades than Atyon, Cam Johnson, 4 firsts and a swap for Embiid, that isn't even a bottom 3 trade for them in the last 5-10 years and it's almost certainly a better deal than whatever they're going to get for Embiid when they are forced to move him in the next year or two.

Still soft, but at least he's a bit more decisive.
90% of these shots are shots he will miss against NBA comp. I dont see strength/power or handles improvement at all. Dude still fades away from guys 4-8" shorter than him

Just because he jumps around during player introductions? For all we know the players found him annoying.

Then why did most of the guys sign up for his charity softball game right after the season? I haven't heard a single negative thing from any Suns players about Javale. I also believe he was a good locker room guy and he was also the teams biggest cheerleader on the bench.

I never heard any backlash from his Suns teammates about his antics. Obviously, it didn't sit well with his Mavericks teammates but that might have just come from Luka's obvious dislike.
