I have a feeling next week we are going to see a bunch of roster churn. Should be interesting

If we do Monti/Gannon are worse than I thought.

You don't churn the roster just before the season starts and lose a bunch of guys you just spent teaching the scheme to for a bunch of guys that have no clue. Unless they are guys that played for Gannon and Petzing before and know the system.

I hope, at best, it's 2-3 players. We need more depth at RB, Safety and CB.

I don’t think we are going to see 10 guys brought in but I think we will see a couple of d-linemen, a safety and a cb if available.

If you're not prioritizing winning, you're better off bringing in more talented players than the ones you've got and seeing if you can pick up multi-year deals with no guarantees. A lot of positions are just plug and play in most systems.

Drew Petzing's play sheet for Saturday's game was the size of two business cards taped together. The churn in the roster on the second or third teams isn't going to impact the team we see much.

It's not like taking a sculptor and asking him to paint. It's more like asking a painter to learn a new style of painting. Most of these guys have played football for well over a decade.

Every team cuts some guys and grabs guys who they think are better. It happens every year.

The only caveat with this IMO is waiving young players on multi year deal. At some point, better to have a cost controlled body than one you will have to refill in a year.

There are a couple position groups that I could see players being brought in at.

1 - S. None of these reserves are anything worth holding on to.

2 - RB. Past Conner and Ingram (who I think the Cardinals just want to get more looks at) there is a void in talent.

3 - TE. Whiteheart looks like a PS guy, could definitely see a roster cut who the org thinks is better than Togiai and/or Swaim.

4 - CB. It is a bad group with little young investment as a whole.

5 - DL. Same.

6 - ILB. More of a spot where a decent player could be let go because of the position.

I thought that is what BritCard was saying. If the Cardinals bring in a boatload of waived players, I think it says something. I expect at least a few players to be brought in.

Baring some former Eagles or Browns they have worked with before I'd be amazed if we claimed more than a couple.

It does, but one or two. Maybe if there are some Eagles or Browns guys they like we might see 4. But otherwise, a couple of guys is about it.

Very rare to see teams do more. And I'd guess more common for teams to claim none.

I would normally agree but we have Charcere and Moffat as our two backup S. Neither are draft picks and neither are under contract for next year. Backup RBs Clement and Demercado, both very replaceable. CB, Christian Matthew and Nate Hairston...same. ILB...a lot of vet guys on one year deals. DL, the same as ILB.

Where I do not expect much movement unless injuries occur is OL, WR, QB, EDGE. Those spots all seem like it would be tough to find a better player being cut at this point in time. Maybe EDGE, but a lot of youth in that group.

I agree, the problem is people are overestimating the quality of the guys that will hit waivers.

The guys getting cut are no better than these guys, and at least the guys you have are known quantities. And the better guys that might hit have to get past the Bears and Texans first.

There are some Eagles possibles. One of Devon Allen and Brittain Covey will get cut. Both are good ST guys. Kentavius Street might not make it on the roster and would be an upgrade for us. Two of Eli Ricks, Mario Goodrich and Makhi Garner probably don't make it either at CB.

Some of these defensive guys would be my bet, although not all of them have Gannon ties and guys like Street are vested.

There is truth to this, but sometimes it's not about being better, talentwise, it's more about being a better fit for what the coaches want and need.

Also the guys could just be younger and more likely to be depth on the next playoff team than just dudes who walk away for a minimum-salary deal with another team in 2024.

One reason we maybe haven't seen a lot of turnover on the scouting staff yet is these guys have been absolutely GRINDING on second, third, and fourth quarter tape in every other preseason game. There's zero reason to believe that some guy Monti signed in June is better than a 6th round pick who was taken before us but couldn't make a good team.
