I wonder what's going to happen to Torrey Craig? It doesn't sound like he is being considered by the Suns anymore? I guess he, Landale, and Biyombo were the odd men out. Kind of surprised by that.

Well we don't know that. He may just be seeing if he can get more money elsewhere.

My guess is they are exploring the market.

PG: Booker, Payne

SG: Beal, Goodwin, Lee

SF: Okogie, Bates-Diop, Wainright, Todd

PF: Durant, Watanabe, Camara

C: Ayton, Eubanks, Metu

That's 15 unless Camara goes on two way!

With only a handful of teams with cap space remaining and all of them being non playoff teams, I wonder if PHX could get Christian Wood on a minimum deal. I know we signed depth guys in Watanabe, Eubanks & Metu but not sure we want KD starting at PF. Wood would provide another rebounder and size in the starting lineup. Wood actually can create offense for himself as he has handles. I know MIA and CHI were rumored to have interest but neither have cap space to offer more than the minimum I believe after CHI spent their money on re-signing Vucevic, White and MIA is hard capped.

Possibly, you bring back Craig, then you 2 way Camara, and we are set. People on ESPN and NBA TV split on wether Ayton will be traded.

I was reading an article from Gerald Bourguet.

Ish Wainright's contract is not guaranteed. Saban Lee and Toumani Camara could end up on two-way contracts. There is also a possibility Isaiah Todd could be cut. So the Suns still have room to maneuver.

By Gerald Bourguet June 30, 2023, PHNX:

Assuming the Suns plan to keep Goodwin and Wainright and put Saben Lee and Camara on two-way deals, they’ll only have one roster spot and one two-way slot left. They could open up an additional roster spot by cutting Todd, who spent most of last season in the G League and may not be able contribute on this roster the way someone like Goodwin can.

I posted that article in another thread and was thinking the same thing. How about Bourget saying we can scoop a guy off waivers with our trade exception and mentions a couple guys.

Suppsedly we have Craig's bird rights. Not sure on that.

We have his early bird rights. I believe that gives us the ability to offer 170% of his previous salary or $10.2m a year, which is league average. We can't exceed that. I'd expect Craig to resign but his final number is up for debate. He'll probably end up around $8m a year, which is an official Hoop Hunch. Remember, heard it here first.

I'm thinking the Suns will keep their options open for a bit and see how things go with other UFAs like Gordon, Wood, etc. If those less likely possibilities don't materialize, then they may opt to bring Craig back and call it a day. Just a guess.

At that price, it would be a good trade chip. I think if we do resign him, we aren't looking to trade him.
