Gambo is saying he is hearing from other teams the Suns are the most popular destination for minimum players. At least that is good to hear.

A good team that projects to have a LOT of playing time available.

Makes sense.

You'd rather be here than someplace having to fend off rookies who the franchise is invested in for minutes.

It’s just a shame that FA class is so damn woeful this off-season.

But hopefully we get the pick of a weak litter.

Especially if they want to use it as a showcase for the next season. Say you are around 30 and you could do one year at the minimum for a good team and then turn that into a nice multi-year contract before the end of your career. There is certainly some value to that.

Lets look at our likely depth chart now with present roster resignings.

Guard rotation: Booker, Beale, Payne, Goodwin, Lee, Lee
Wing rotation: Durant, Craig, Okogie, Ish, Todd, Bazely
Big rotation: Ayton, Landale, Biz

It is not horrible depth. The need is three-point shooting in the wings and maybe a big.
Todd sucks he will not be on the team.

I would not count on Okogie coming back.

We can probably sign both Lee's - but I don't want them. Booker, Goodwin and Payne is enough at PG. Beal can play there in a pinch too.

We need wings and bigs.

The guards seem set with Beal/Book/Payne/Goodwin and if Ayton is actually motivated, that’s a solid big man rotation, but man, after KD, that wing group is fried.
I don't like our big rotation either. If Ayton has another bad year we are really really thin in the Front Court. I like Craig who can give you minutes at the PF spot but I would love to see a big body there. Another wing would be secondary to me but we could use more depth there too.

Yeah. Really the guard situation is the only place I’m really comfortable with starters and depth.

Not good. Gambo just said we spent 3.5 million on the Beal deal.

That means we have less than 2 million to spend on picks.

I think we will bring back Jock, Biz and Okogie.

Craig might stay but I kinda doubt it.

I think both Lee's are gone, Todd and Bazley are likely gone too.

I've been reading that we will have a partial MLE and the bi annual, i think we will sign a couple forwards. The best 3 and D guys we can afford.

Craig, Okogie, Jock and Biz would be nice to get back, especially if Okogie is just planted in the corner all offseason shooting threes until his arms fall off.

We can offer craig like 6.5 million or so and a multi year deal. We will, and I don't think he can get better. Likely we do get him back.

Bazley could go either way. I hope we keep him.

We have no MLE. I don't think we have the bi annual either - but I'm not sure.

Again, I have heard conflicting stuff on that. They did say they were phasing in some aspects of the apron. Spotrac, which is generally accurate, has us with a 5 mil MLE and the bi-annual and Saric's (worthless) trade exemption, they also, correctly, have the Clippers and Warriors with no exemptions.

That won't matter much. Gambo has been talking to GM's and he said basically GMs are telling him after pick 15, GMs think there is little difference in players. The Suns probably think this too. So, even if they had 5.5 million you are basically getting similar players in the range they could have bought.

Kellan Olson was on the radio saying the Suns do have 2 exemptions to work with and they will probably overpay to keep Craig (because we have his bird rights) so we can use that contract to get other guys down the road.

I figured Craig would be the easiest guy to bring back if Ishbia really does have the fattest wallet in the world.

I think it's funny, but int the last few months Ishbia has made arguably the two biggest trades in the NBA. We are worried guys won't want to come to PHX. We keep Ayton, we only need spots 5-8 to fill. We trade Ayton, we get multiple guys in return, we may only need to get two to three guys.

I think it's a flashback to game 6 with the Nuggets.

After just listening to Gambo again, I am now convinced Ayton isn't getting traded today.

Sounds like Vogel really wants him, so we will probably at least try him out for the first few months.

Jeez I hope there are some leftover decent players to sign for the minimum.
It’s impossible to have an opinion on a DA trade unless we know what packages are available for him. I’m sure the Simons/Nurkic and Robinson/Grimes type deals are available but those don’t move me. Other teams see what what see so get ready for another year of the DA experience and hope for the best.

They went through every team in the NBA on 98.7, and possible Ayton trades, and there really isn't anything that moves the needle or makes sense for both teams.

If Simons/Nurkic is available we should do it.

I'm sure I'm just being overly optimistic, but I think the Phoenix Suns are going to be the best team in the West next year by a long shot . I'm nervous as hell about injuries, but so is every other Western Conference fan… Not even just the Western Conference. if the clippers actually get healthy they are also a team I think that is actually better than the Nuggets. Give me a different coach and swap Chris Paul & Landry for Bradley Beal and keep everything else the same and I think it's entirely possible we would have beaten the Nuggets.

Let's face it the odds are almost always going to be against even the best teams actually winning the championship in any particular season. If I had to place a bet I would definitely been on the field against the Phoenix Suns, but I honestly believe as much of a chance as any other team including the Nuggets this upcoming season

What the Suns need to help make that happen is to be at least 8 players deep and Deandre Ayton to produce like he did in the Finals.
