If Simons/Nurkic is available we should do it.
I'd hate that. Nurkic isn't even 30 yet but seems to already be in decline. Maybe if Simons was a little better but I think he's no better than average. Granted, Ayton is letting us down but take away the expectations and he's still better than either of those two players.

I think it's a flashback to game 6 with the Nuggets.
Except instead of no CP3 or Ayton… We’d have Bradley Beal and… DeAndre Ayton instead of Cam Payne and Jock Landale.

But yeah… same thing as Game 6.

Lol… you guys used to accuse me of being a doomsayer. At least when I was there, there was good reason because the team was actually terrible as opposed to now when some of you seem like you want it to be terrible because you’re still clinging to a past that ended in humiliation followed up by mediocrity.

I liked Nurkic when he came in the league, but I wouldn't chance his health either.

Pacers at 26 picked a guy that is a prototypical JJ pick. Did they pick for us?

You know, I am pretty discouraged about the Suns future. We have mortgaged the next seven years for a grab. The six second rounders is just crazy. I know what we got, but we have no real way of filling out the roster. If I was James Jones I would look for another job where I could actually do something.

Hope we win it all.

Winning it all now is the point.

The Suns are going to be in the mix for a long time because every time one of our huge expirings comes up we’re trading it for good player on a huge contract that their team is trying to dump. I fear it more turning into perpetual mediocrity than losing a pick that’s top-5 for instance, but we can worry about that when it comes because the next couple years are going to be fun.

Of all the assets that the Suns gave up, the second-rounders concern me almost not at all. Yes, once in a while you'll find a good player in the second round, but you're nearly as likely to find one who wasn't drafted at all. Just think of the Suns having the 61st pick in each draft.

And you can always buy second rounders and ishbia has the phat wallet to do so.

Yeah, reminds me of the years of mediocrity before we got Nash back. We had some really mediocre established players for us that took us nowhere. Anyone know what years and teams I am talking about?

Update: I looked it up on Wikipedia. Seems I remember it right. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_Suns#1996–2004:_Average_times or maybe the period from 2008 until we really hit rock bottom... I remember being less enthused about Josh Childress as a starter.

Seems like a nice pick drafting Camara. We need to get bigger.

What is the PG situation now? Do we start with Point Book and Beal, or will Cam Payne get the starting job? Other options?

Probably matchup dependent but I think we'll see a lot of Point Book and Point Beal. Payne off the bench, when healthy. The guard who was a throw in, Goodwin, looks like he could be a legit backup PG as well. I think if we add a Two-Way PG then we'll be ok. I'd like a Two-Way PG as well as another combo guard signed to feel a little more comfortable.

Booker, Payne, Goodwin
Beal, ???, ???
Craig*, Okogie*, ???
KD, ???, Camera
Ayton, Landale*, Biz

We also could bring back Bazley. He's restricted and I doubt he has any suitors. I believe the qualifying offer is like $7m though, which is a lot for what he offers.

I'd be cool with trying to sign Dario as a PF vet min guy. I'd like him or Frank back to be the 3rd string PF. Camera can be signed to a Two-Way deal, which is probably for the best flexibility wise.

*Craig, Okogie, and Landale aren't signed but we have early bird rights on Craig allowing us to offer up to $11m a year, so he's expected back. Okogie on a minimum deal and I've read Landale is also restricted. He's much cheaper since he was a 2nd round pick. Expect him back.

Will the Ayton return be significantly better than guys that will be available to us on min deals in FA?
Unless we get blown away for Ayton, I'm fine holding and waiting to see how FA pans out.

If we keep Ayton, in theory you have 4 solid guys that start. So you only need 4 more guys, in theory, to round out your playoff squad. Can we raise the level of talent with vet min guys and our draftee, to raise the bar over us signing returning players from last year? That will be the question. We supposedly are the number one landing spot for those guys according to Gambo from his calls to his sources around the league.
