If everyone stayed healthy and didn't have to play an entire season plus the playoffs, a 7-8 man rotation looks good on paper.

However, every player on that 15 man roster will be needed at one time or another during the season and playoffs.

An 82 game schedule is brutal and will take its toll.
And Ish is fine filling in for stints in the regular season. Even in the regular season the guys at the very end of your bench generally won't be seeing much playing time at all. There are not enough "serviceable" players available in free agency for us to fill out our entire roster on players that can give us good minutes.

Definitely an improvement considering we couldn't rely on our bench anyway and you add another All-Star to the roster.

The Suns still need a 5th starter and roster that can get them through the season.

Although Chris Paul and Landry Shamet are gone, they helped the Suns get to the playoffs.

I agree we should not be done or do I consider us done. However, I think we are better suited for the playoffs already all things being equal (expectations of our bench). If we can fill out our bench with guys that can contribute and possible get another solid rotation player it's even better IMO.

What would the Suns have given for another serviceable point guard, power forward or center for that matter?

I don't want to go back to game 6 against the Nuggets, but this is what it looks like. Every roster spot must be viewed as a possible contributor.

He was a favorite of Monty's and often saw time over more skilled players like TJ, for example. He does play hard but he was also the closest thing to a PF we had coming off the bench other than Craig. Problem is he doesn't have Craig's shot, BB IQ, or ability to SF as well. This worries me because we need real big bodies not undersized and underskilled practice bodies. He's taking a spot from someone else and I don't like that. Maybe if it comes out the deal isn't guaranteed and he can still be dumped then I'll feel better about it but I'd rather not even be in that position.

TJ still has a lot left in the tank, I just never understood Monty not playing TJ. Ish is solid 3 string, we know what he is and what he isn't. I think he can improve his shooting percentages even more.

Suns give a qualifyting offer to Jock Landale and a two-way offer to Saban Lee.

We are good at guard with Beal, Book, and Payne. I love his fearlessness, hopefully Payne is healthy this season so we don't have to revert to Lee.

Jock was a no brainer.

I like Craig, he would do well feeding off misses (if there's enough to around lol), he does everything that is required of him, and (knock on wood) he's pretty reliable despite taking some of the biggest hits all season. Every team needs one of these dirt workers. He's the current Marion of the team.

The Suns have three legitimate stars as I view it, so they should be better, but a chain is only as good as its weakest link.

IMHO, James Jones must do a better job of filling in the backend of his roster. He didn't last season and it cost the Suns.

TJ Warren didn't show me much last season. His game is mostly offense anyway. We have already discussed Ish.

Hopefully Landale, Biyombo, Payne and Craig will be coming back.

I'd like to think Frank Vogel can work some magic but he needs more quality depth.

I hope Okogie has worked on his game and comes back. Also have my hopes up for Jordan Goodwin. So I guess Ayton, Okogie, Durant, Book, Beal, Goodwin, Bizzy, Jock, Payne & TJ should have us in the mix until mid-season and we can do some trades or signings then. Maybe trade some draft picks!

I don't think we should expect a decent signing until players are bought out mid season. That's when we'll add our cheap talent.

Not happening. The CBA prevents teams in the luxury tax from signing midseason buyout players. That ship has sailed. Barring a trade, we won't be adding anyone of value later on.

Good luck with the draft picks.

What picks? We don't have one until 2047.

I feel you are going way too deep here. Those "practice bodies" are important to have on the roster as well as good locker room guys. Even after signing Ish we still have like 8 roster spots open and only like 4 of those will be other returning players. This really isn't a big deal.

I want end of the bench guys who either offer veteran experience, like Biz, some untapped potential, like Camara, or the ability to slide up and fill a backup for a short period of time while someone is out because of injury/rest, like TJ Warren. Ish doesn't check any of those boxes.

I'm hoping Landale is at home watching nothing but Dennis Rodman film

You can't really do any trades with our situation unless you plan on trading Ayton at mid-season. Also, we do have every other 1st round pick but you can't move those either because you traded our other 1st rounders between all of those. You could though draft players (using the 1st rounders we have left) then trade them via draft day trades.

Of course, it depends on where the Suns draft and who is available, but the Suns might want to consider trading down when they have a draft pick.

It would allow them to have a pick in the years they have none.

When you have a top heavy team, you can only use so many draft picks and expect them to get any playing time to develop. First round guys don't want to be stuck in the G league. I am excited to see Toumani get some time this season. Very nice kid. Seems pretty smart and confident. His game ticks off a lot of boxes for us if he acclimates to the NBA well.

Suns are said to be looking at Mike James and Yuta Watanabe formerly of the Nets.

That is clearly not a correct statement or the Suns would not have been able to beat Denver twice.
