I don't think too many people were doubting that the Suns could add talent this year. Ring-chasing is a well-documented phenomenon, and the Suns looked like a contender on paper even before the Beal trade. Jones has done well to talk up the Suns' chances.

Whether guys are going to be falling over themselves to join the Suns on minimum contracts once Durant is gone remains to be seen. The current crop are all signed for only a year or two, and a core of Booker/Beal/Ayton (or whatever Ayton fetches in a trade) screams 50-and-fade at best.
When KD is gone, who will Ishbia sign/trade for next? Obviously he's not scared to swing for the fences!

We must be reading different boards.

See above.

Agree with that.

Once Durant is gone, Ayton’s contract will be gone too and we likely have cap space with a growing cap to get another star.

And once Durant is gone, we will also have first round picks to trade again.

For whatever reason, James Jones wasn't able to assemble the right players to compete for a championship last season after the Durant trade. Maybe he didn't have the time. The pieces and talent didn't fit. Also, the Suns had run out of ready assets.

However, this off season he has corrected those mistakes and somehow, with minimum contracts, has assembled a team that can legitimately compete for a championship.

IMO, the momentum swung the Suns way when they were inexplicably able to pull off the trade for Bradley Beal.

However, if Beal had not chosen Phoenix, the Suns might have well fallen short of their off season goals.

After that, the chips started falling in place, but not my accident. The Suns front office had created the environment for it to happen.

It was like JJ and Ishbia are playing chess, while the rest of the league is playing checkers.

This is where the Suns roster is at the moment. They are at 15 players.

The Suns could create another roster spot or two if they are not done.

Including the non-guaranteed/partially guaranteed deals for Ish Wainright and Jordan Goodwin, the Suns are at 15 players. Likely means two-way deals for Toumani Camara and Saben Lee, and that Torrey Craig/Bismack Biyombo are gone unless someone (Isaiah Todd?) is waived

I still want a good sized center. Maybe Jemison can impress enough to get a 2 way.

Is that the BEAST on our Summer League Team? That dude is UNREAL in highlights. Tearing down the rim on those dunks!

I wouldn't mind giving him a look. There will still be minimum players available later.

I'd give his a spot based on his highlights alone and his size. Turn THAT guy into our enforcer.

Shams: "Phoenix has turned into a destination this offseason: Gordon considered multiple contenders — including more lucrative deals — before committing to Suns to join a bolstered roster around Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal."
Like I’ve been touting . . . Booker is a destination.

OK! Just been thinking about this. Under Sarver, JJ never had an off season like this. Now, he's like a GM wizard under Ishbia. Only difference is the owners. Is Ishbia being a basketball guy, a bigger difference than we realize? This whole thing has been very strategic under Ishbia. Wether it works or not is debatable, but it definitely seems like planned moves. What's so cool about it, is the Suns targeting who they want. KD, go for it. Beal, go for it. Now all these moves Friday, and now today. They all have the feeling of us targeting people AND getting who we are targeting. Is it JJ or Ishbia? Is it the combo of both?
It’s God.

Lol I had a list of who I wanted. Gordon and Wood was left. Drop Todd for Wood.

Look, I'm very happy and very optimistic about this team's direction, this new owner's drive and commitment, with how JJ is operating, about watching Book/KD/Beal play together, and having these talented free agents view Phx as the premier place to play for a championship. It's all been very exciting and I wish I could say I couldn't be happier, but there's still one final move to make, one last problem to deal with, and if that happens I believe it'd make us the clear favorites to dethrone Denver
