He's worth a look, but Collison has played a grand total of 37 minutes over the past three seasons, scoring four points and committing five fouls. Not very promising.

I remember him retiring years ago, we had been rumored to want him the summer we ended up with Rubio but Collison decided to hang em up.

I had no idea that 3 game return took place.

He did retire. He cited religious reasons for retiring. He's a devout Jehovah Witness. It surprised a lot of people because he was due a fairly good sized payday.

Not the most reliable reporter but Mainstreet might get his wish of adding another point guard.

Although, I think it's more likely we sign a wing player.
Here’s to hoping Haynes is wrong about the Suns yet again.

It's a gross overpay because we bid against ourselves. The Nets were in a position where they absolutely had to move him, we were their only real option, and despite that their situation had grown far more desperate, we met their original asking price.

Furthermore, I'd rather have a team with Lillard and Bridges with Booker instead of Beal and Durant and Booker. It appears that would have absolutely been a possibility.

Opportunity cost.
A) no, the nets didn’t have to deal him, just as they didn’t prior to the season. In the post season they’d have had a lot more leverage as there would’ve been more bidders.

B) give me Durant/Booker/Beal over lilliard/Booker/bridges every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

No one was going to trade for him if he didn't want to play for them.

And you're right, they didn't have to trade him, they could have sat on him, had him (most likely) sit out, or get hurt again, or, struggle in the playoffs again. His value was decreasing rapidly.

We paid too much, way too much. The result might end up being great, but it is still an overpay.
His value would’ve skyrocketed in an offseason where contenders that fell flat were looking to add a guy to put them over the top. Celtics made big changes, heat looking to do the same. We absolutely would’ve had competition for Durant and we would’ve been focusing on that instead of adding a Beal to he and book.

This assumes Portland would not have demanded Bridges to be included in the trade package. Maybe they wouldn't have, but I'm not sure that's a safe assumption considering the value he reportedly has across the league.
I love that everyone believes we could’ve traded for stars without including our most tradable asset…bridges.

Eh.. the who’s right, who’s wrong is stuff is stupid.

My bad for pushing the convo that way.

We’re having a GREAT off-season that everyone loves. Let’s just happy happy joy together and start talking about how this team matches up, different lineups and look forward to what hopefully will be a killer season!

Like, we can just talk and imagine the season with all of us pretty much on the same page.

That’s a rarity. I’ll try to enjoy it with no pissing matches.

The Beal trade did cheer me up quite a bit.

I certainly don't think they had any notion that something like that could fall into their laps but... for once we got really lucky.

I am very much looking forward to the season.

Any game where we have 2 out of 3 of our stars available... I think we can contend with just about anybody, and if we can enter the playoffs healthy we have a great shot.

I think the Lakers got the most out of him lately. Just a few minutes here and there off the bench.

Kellan Olson AZ Sports Writer:

Reminder: you can have up to 21 players on your roster in the offseason.
IDK how helpful that is when you have to cut to 15 and you don't have a G League team. If you do have a G League team, those guys probably aren't helping you too much. I saw that, but am not too sure how much that helps.

Quite helpful if you are trying to find the best guy to fill the last spot or two on the roster. This means you can have 21 guys at the start of camp and that allows you to see them up close and personal before making the final decisions.

We have a decent Summer League team this season. A lot of us on the board are looking for Trey Jemison to stand out:

DAMN YOU JAMES JONES!!!! You were so efficient and fast in signing guys to the Suns this off season, now we have nothing to look forward to until preseason games. :hammer:

They could still trade Ayton but I think that is doubtful. However, that rumor will persist for the next year for sure. :bang:

From AZ Sports:

"The Suns’ practice facility this summer is going to be bumping.

“I get antsy just thinking about it, because I haven’t had those opportunities,” Beal said. “And it’s the same with the other two guys, and DA. … It’s the first thing (GM) James (Jones) said, ‘OK when we played you, we pretty much doubled you when you had the ball but with us, who are you going to double team? What are your rotations going to look like?’ Just those two seconds I was like, ‘Damn, that makes a lot of sense.’ I’m excited about it. You have a lot of dynamic scorers who, the biggest box that we check is our unselfishness.”"

Funny how I see a lot of this…

The big 3, and DA.

Motivated group, and DA.

Everyone is excited, and DA.

At the end of the season, we looked cooked with very few avenues to improve. Many thought it impossible to field credible players short of trading Ayton away. That instinct was completely wrong.
Gordon was really the icing on the cake of the offseason - a guy that clearly could have gotten more elsewhere, but who understands the opportunity in front of him.

I was ready to dump James Jones for his inaction the last 2 years, but his attacking this offseason really has changed my mind.

What we don't know is how big of an issue Monty and DA's relationship was. He may have assumed before Monty was fired it was inevitable he was going to be traded and he was somewhat going through the motions.

Now that a trade looks unlikely at least for this season and he has basically found out it's because most other teams don't value him very highly he might be motivated to prove everybody wrong.

Or nothing will change.

But at least there is a chance it will.

Just think he won Executive of the Year stifled under Sarver. How can they NOT give it to him this year?

Torrey Craig signs with the Bulls.

Adrian Wojnarowski @wojespn

Free agent F Torrey Craig has agreed on a two-year contract with the Chicago Bulls, sources tell ESPN. Deal includes a player option. Craig averaged 7.4 points and 5.4 rebounds in 24 minutes for Suns last season.

The Bulls and Torrey Craig have agreed on a 2-year deal, per @wojespn.Craig in 5 starts vs. the Clippers during the playoffs:– 12.4 PPG– 64.7% FG– 55.6% 3FG pic.twitter.com/29zUBIuCVW

Joe Cowley @JCowleyHoops

So the Bulls offseason is Jevon Carter and Torrey Craig ... two players that would be great finishing pieces to a team that was knocking on the Larry O'Brien Trophy Room. But for this group ... pic.twitter.com/WHRqfZOhc6

Hopefully, it won't be said of JJ like it was with George Allen, who, Carroll Rosenblum said, "George was given an unlimited budget and he exceeded it" (just after he fired him). LOL

Seriously, JJ made some astonishingly good moves to fill out the roster. If the injury bug hits, which it will, I hope it hits one at a time and not all of the 3 stars at once. Now that Sarver is gone I may be interested in watching them again.

It's on the UCLA sites too. DC is in shape he's a workout guy now he has been working out a ton of kids in HS and college, Kylan Boswell of UA and Dylan Andrews of UCLA are both kids who worked out at Collison's setup and he's very involved himself out there with the kids so he's still in shape.

But obviously hasn't played in NBA games in awhile.
