Even "potentially" is pretty damn rich.
He isn't the only one that is saying that. People that know football better than us are saying it too.
He's a nice prospect, better than any in years, but I'd still take Luck, Manning, and maybe Lawrence over him.
Mahomes is the nice prospect? I assume you are talking about Caleb or someone else...

What if he isn't Kelce?

That is a luxury pick with potentially the GOAT QB and the GOAT TE.

That is not a blueprint that is a massive exception.

I am 100% against drafting a TE in round 1.
After so many years of watching Keim blow picks on luxury talent, posters are STILL advocating for that plan of action despite seeing how it led us nowhere?

Bizarre.

If we traded into the teens, I wouldn't be adverse to the pick. I wouldn't use a top 10 pick on him.

Our offense seems to be TE based, so drafting one of the best prospects in at least a decade doesn't sound like a bad plan.

Ah...I was talking about Mahomes. :)

You said KC is the blueprint and Bowers has Kelce potential.

My point was that we don't have Mahomes (who is the potential GOAT QB) and Bowers is most likely not going to be Kelce (who could be the GOAT TE).

If Monti drafts Bowers I'm out. I highly doubt he will.

You only have to look at the history of highly drafted TEs to see its a mugs game. Playing TE in college and TE in the NFL is chalk and cheese.

Look: you can't think of them as luxury talent if you assume that they're going to be the best player at their position in the first two years of their careers. You wouldn't complain about drafting Zaven Collins if he'd immediately been prime Ray Lewis, would you?

Previous best prospects in a decade at the TE position: Kyle Pitts, Vernon Davis, Kellen Winslow.

Greg Olsen was better than all of these guys and he was drafted 31st overall. Gronk was drafted 42nd overall (although a college back injury complicated that). I'm certain smarter people than me have quantified how quality a prospect has to be at a secondary position to make up for being the 3rd or 4th best CB or Edge edge in a class.

The entire draft is about trying to be the smartest person in the room.

He looks like Mahomes because he plays surrounded by 4 and 5 star recruits.

I think Caleb is a nice talent, but it's pretty darn premature to compare him to a top three QB all time QB.
I thought you were talking about Mahomes, my bad. Who knows what Williams will become.

The Athletic came out with updated draft order projections today. They're not as optimistic on the Cardinals' projected win total as PFF and Tankathon:
TeamProjected WinsPlayoff Chances
1. Chicago3.40.2%
2. Carolina -> Chicago4.50.6%
3. Arizona5.21.6%
4. Denver5.62.1%
5. NY Jets5.73.7%
6. NY Giants6.35.9%
7. Washington6.912.2%
8. Las Vegas7.19.2%
9. Pittsburgh7.114.7%
10. New England7.115.9%
Houston is now projected to get the 14th pick. (I'm surprised at how well they're playing and they have an easy schedule, but I don't yet buy in to their picking that late!)

Lol… way to just perpetually play both sides of the discussion so you never have to admit you’re wrong.

Geez. Tough room. My reply to you was sarcastic.

A prospect becoming a hall of fame player is by definition an outlier event. You can't draft a prospect with the assumption that he'll play 10 years and spend eight of them as the literal top player at his position. You can hope that's his ceiling, but you have to draft for the 60-80th percentile outcome (IMO).

Keim always drafted dudes expecting them to hit their 95th percentile outcome and then was mad when, like, Bobbie Massie became a league-average RT as a fourth round pick. Leaves as a free agent, plays another six years in the NFL.

Ah okay. A player of Kelce's skill level would look good with most QBs though.
