handicapping things:

i think the Raiders and Vikings are most likely to rally and win enough games to be out of the top 10

the Raiders have like 7 more games vs other teams in the top 10 of the draft

the Vikings have 6 similar games, including the Bears twice and the Broncos

further -- Burrow has to get healthy at some point -- right?

The Raiders are bad and poorly coached, though. Since the 2008 Denver Broncos started 6-0, McDaniels is 12-31 as a head coach.

Yikes.

its hard to argue with that

you look at the personnel and they ought to be better -- Josh Jacobs, Davante Adams, Hunter Renfrow, a QB that is decent -- good pass rusher. Not deep in the playoffs better, but competitive in every game and win 8 games better

Jacobs & Renfrow are non-factors & their 20 other players are JAGs.

The CB, WR, and OT class looks very strong this year.

I am not sure we take another OT unless we move DJ and I don't see that happening.
We really need a disruptive DT and a full time pass rusher/difference maker.

Kalen King might be my favorite CB due to overall game.
Cooper DeJean is interesting but is he a full time CB or S?

thats because the guys doing the mocks dont run a football team
Eh NFL teams have consistently chased the TE superstar.

If I'm betting on a college TE prospect though, I'm betting on Bowers. He's significantly better than Kyle Pitts was coming out.

The thing with TEs and drafting them high is that you have to commit to designing your offense around them, and work through the growing pains. If Andy Reid drafted Brock Bowers in the 8-20 range of the first round, no one would question it. Same with the Eagles. I don't know that we are the team to make him option 1B or option 2 in the passing game.

Chiefs are the blueprint. There is a reason they have deemphasized WR, because Kelce is a true #1 option. Bowers has that kind of potential.

It could work out as well as when Andy Reid drafted Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the first round! What makes these teams different is that they don't draft non-premium positions high, and they're able to develop the mid-round players they draft into stars.

Chiefs are the blueprint. There is a reason they have deemphasized WR, because Kelce is a true #1 option. Bowers has that kind of potential.

Kelce was a 3rd round pick for KC (as a 24 year old!). He played in one game his rookie season, didn't make a Pro Bowl until year 3. There is just more pressure on a top 5 or 10 pick to do something early. That's why you draft them high.

What if he isn't Kelce?

That is a luxury pick with potentially the GOAT QB and the GOAT TE.

That is not a blueprint that is a massive exception.

I am 100% against drafting a TE in round 1.

I think if everyone had hindsight at the time, Kelce wouldn't be a 3rd rounder, but I don't disagree that drafting a TE high is pure folly.

File "the draft a 1st round TE" idea in the same drawer as drafting a guard, ILB, or safety high.
