UNC has been very good at recruiting ever since they brought Mack Brown back. They are not a talent devoid school with a stud at QB.

Ranking don't always measure success but based on how well rankings correlate with players getting on an NFL roster, I'd say they do measure talent. You say that USC is more talented than Utah and that UNC is basically on the same level as UVA. That is not true at all. The talent disparity between UNC and UVA is a measurably wider than the gap between USC and Utah.

UVA does not get talented high school players and they do not develop the players they get. They are a school where it takes a miracle for them to attend a bowl game. On the other hand UNC under Mack Brown steals very highly rated players in recruiting, is always bowl eligible and is usually in contention for the conference title late in the season. They also put a good amount of player into the NFL.

There are other ways to measure the talent disparity besides recruiting rankings, such as draft prospects or recent players drafted and those measures also point to UNC being dramatically more talented than UVA. This was a very embarrassing loss for North Carolina.

Talent wise he’s shorter/skinnier than Herbert and has ~15% less arm (which is still good). That said Herbert is one of those “created in a lab” QB’s.

John Middlekauff - An assistant GM talked to him and said he's glad he's not in the market for QB this draft.

Middlekauff said he's about 80% of Justin Herbert. So he's no lock/savior although very talented.

I did not, too much going on today. That said, everyone has bad games. I’m basing my opinion on what I’ve seen.

I do watch a ton of college football, and his game against a pathetic UVA football team was eye opening to me. Looks to me like a mid 1st rounder at best. And that’s being kind.

Funny enough I've been seeing people throw Kingsbury under the bus for CW this year, lol.

I think the thing is Kyler will determine whether we draft Caleb or Maye. If he wins enough games then we'll be drafting an OL or maybe trading down again.

If not then they'll draft a QB. Its on Kyler to shown he's not been "broken" by the Kliff era. Caleb and Maye would have fresh starts.

I do not think it’ll necessarily come down to wins because our D cannot be trusted. But, like yesterday, if the D creates 3 turnovers & a Murray led offense only scores 10 points & Murray is as putrid as Dobbs was, then yes, that would be the ONLY way the Cardinals would consider jettisoning Murray. And we all know that’s really remote. I don’t think the Cardinals are questioning whether Murray is a very good franchise QB. He is. I think they want to see him knock off the rust, be productive, and MOST importantly, stay healthy.

Agree. But, as it pertains to Murray, I’m not talking about a minor injury that could put him out 2-3 weeks. The absolutely only way the Cardinals would be forced to look in another direction at QB would be is if, GOD FORBID, Kyler were to have another serious knee injury. There’s almost zero doubt in my mind that when JG says that Murray is THE reason he took this job, he MEANT it. And I’m sure that Petzing is having sleepless nights waiting for Murray to return. God bless the person that Dobbs truly is, and the dude does a great job using his legs, but he’s a true liability out there throwing the ball. When you rewatch that game, you really get a feel for how inaccurate he really is. And he creates uncertainty with our pass catchers. I‘m shocked that he hasn’t gotten anyone hurt really bad yet. And they seem a tad bit tentative in their routes because of that. I understand if the Cardinals wait until Atlanta to start Murray, but my fear is that Dobbs is going to get someone killed out there against Baltimore and Cleveland. We know just how good the Baltimore D is, and Schwartz is a border line criminal as a DC.

Looking at the top OT's in the draft, Alt and Fashanu, the talented and likely 1st round OSU DE, JTT, has faced both this year and was handled pretty good by Alt but dominated Fashanu.

I beat the drum hard the last 5 to 10 years to draft the best DT/IDL in round one. I am going to for this one as well. It's the least talented part of the team, and has always been one of the worst units for this franchise. This defense will NEVER be top 5 without guys who are legit two block eaters, threats to shoot the gaps, on the interior.

We have always gone cheap, getting day 3 picks, vet minimum guys, and Monti did too. I know you can't address all positions in one year, but I hope he doesn't drop it down the priority list like Keim.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

The quickest way for Maye to reach that "Herbert success" and even Caleb Williams to reach his hype is to wind up on the Vikings.

Jefferson, TJ, Addison is as strong of core there is. O'Connell is a very good play caller. Reminds me of Mahomes walking into Hill/Kelce.

If Kirk is truly done there after this year its the kinda place Penix could wind up in (if they dont trade up) and people are surprised in two years he's looking like Tua.
