Bleargh. My dad texted randomly last night to a group chat with my brothers and I asking why PHX doesn't have an MLS team already.
I told him that MLS is kind of a ponzi scheme right now -- you have to pay a huge franchise fee and build a custom soccer stadium. If US soccer had a true pyramid, Rising would be an MLS team because they were first in the second division.
He didn't believe me because the Arizona Republic only posts standings for MLS and "something called the NWSL".
I guess what I'm saying is that Phoenix Rising have some work to do to win over the 74 year old local sports fans.
