I could see the Raiders offering a day two pick but that does nothing for us unless we plan to tank next year. Our best bet is hiring Vick’s OC in Philly when he had some of those gimmicky great seasons.

Can’t call and of these receivers a bust until we see better play from the QB in the pocket. This is likely a marv touchdown here, but even he misses that he misses Wilson coming back which still would have been a big gain. When a play breaks down he’s yeeting it up to McBride or dumping it to the RB behind the LOS.

not to pick on you directly, but in general

I would like a sense of a baseline on how many wide open receivers NFL qbs miss during a game, or, how many do Lamar Jackson or Joe Burrough miss? Its not zero

so i have no idea when we see these each week if its good, bad or indifferent

So the question still lingers. Are these wr’s overrated or are the suppressed by qb/ offense or Petzing.

It’s hard for me to believe a guy like Love, Darnold or Daniels wouldn’t have gotten more out of Harrison.
Or would a guy like Ben Johnson came up with a plan to got more out of this entire wr room.

Call MHJ a one or two. It doesn’t matter. We need another top wr. Wilson is a 3 and Dortch is a 4th or 5th pesky type receiver but no way in hell is he a #3.
Its interesting that Sam Darnold and Baker couldn't get more out of DJ Moore in Carolina.

There were complaints about Baker not being able to get OBJ the ball in Clevelands offense.

Does the foundation of the offense know how to get WRs the ball. No matter the talent at QB. We still haven't thrown MHJ a screen pass all year.

That is depressing! In slow motion, it is obvious Kyler did not read the defense or where the ball should have gone. He didn’t see MHJ without a safety help either. His height plays a factor but the bigger issue is he doesn’t comprehend the NFL defenses and I don’t think he knows where his guys are.

Where is Warner or Palmer?

The biggest issue Marv had IMO is he was drafted to be the X which means he's often on the outside, but he seems better from the slot. Early in the year announcers started calling that out, they need to play him more from the slot it's his best spot right now.

But the Cards needed him to be the X.

Assuming he improves next year that won't matter, or hopefully we have someone else to play the X. He did have one great play against the Rams the backshoulder from near our goalline to the left where he snagged it against tight coverage and held on. If he can do that more consistently it'll be huge.

But as the X you're often lined up 1 on 1 against the other teams best CB and this year Marv had a REALLY tough time winning in those matchups.

He definitely misses Marv there but if I'm not mistaken that's the play where he hits MCBride over the middle for a huge gain but it comes back because Adams the guard was downfield?

Checked it and yes same play. Hard to say, if Kyler sees Marv early enough he can definitely throw it before Adams goes over the LOS and hit the big play. By the time he threw it Adams was downfield. I still can't figure out why. Warner said it in the broadcast that when you have a running QB sometimes the OL leaks out but on that play it never really even remotely looks like Kyler is going to run. So even though Kyler missed a huge play there, we still wound up with a big play but Adams blew that

The perception of Kyler and the passing game are straying further and further from reality by the day. Kyler is 13th in the league in passing yards in a TE heavy, run-first offense. He is averaging 7.6 ypg less than Josh Allen. Before anyone gets weird, I am NOT saying Kyler is in the same overall class of QB as Allen, but it's not like Allen is out there throwing for 300 ypg, either. Burrow is the only QB throwing for over 275 ypg.

Kyler obviously has his issues (chokes under pressure, inexplicable INTs, not enough TD passes), but we are still going to produce 2 guys with over 900 yards receiving, and potentially 4 guys with over 500 yards receiving. It's not like we are the Patriots or something.

Hence the need for a real change with our passing game philosophy. While Petzing is a run first guy, and the run game has been good for the most part, in order for this offense to make the jump it needs especially second half of the year we need to be more dynamic throwing it downfield. I’m tired of the dink and dunk crap. It’s ok to let it loose 3-4 times a game
Petzing is limited by Murray's lack of ability to throw downfield. The players have to be able to execute the play. I hated KK game plan and play calling. Now we have the same issue with new coaches. Somehow KK is having good success in Washington with a rookie QB.

Of course would be down to draft a true #2- but guys like pukka nacua unfortunately don’t fall off trees, the rams really lucked out.

I’ll say it- I wouldn’t mind signing Hollywood - doubt kc pays him and bet we could get him cheap. He has experience with Kyler, he has speed to stretch the defense, he could be a vet presence for marv

I’ve debated this myself. Medicals are critical. Otherwise I could see him as a fit vonsidering this is a weak draft year for WRs & free agents are limited. We know Murray would use him.

IDK, we had him and didn’t use him let alone the injuries he had. Rather start fresh with someone else who has these traits that could develop into that speed / YAC guy we desperately need, let alone the price tag

That’s the million dollar question. I guess we will find out this off season.

i think bringing in a quality starting vet WR in the offseason is a priority

I am not buying the "Kyler can't quickly jell with new targets" -- Hop did just fine his first year. AJ Green did just fine.

im banging the drum on when Jax inevitably releases Christian Kirk -- you bring him back and let him work the slot
That is becoming more and more an attractive option to me the more I hear this board talk about it.

Harry , what’s your thoughts on a guy like Darius Slayton?

A good guy who Nabers credits for being a great mentor, I can’t see him changing teams. He was fast when he came out but now is more of the wise vet type. He was not as good as AJ Green was when he came to AZ. Nice team player, but not what I'm looking to get.
